to bring out the needed qualities for entrance into the Val-Lo-Will chicken farm. While Francis and Mary were talking over the possibilities of the chicken becoming America's favorite dish, I asked Marilyn about some of her old psls. During the discussion she told me that Linda Staab was a bare-back rider for Dingling Bros, circus. Mentally checking off classmates I had visited, I came to Bob Ellison. But Marilyn solved the problem for me by saying Bob was 8 Home Ec. teacher at Yale and enjoyed the work immensely. As time was running short, we started for the door. Just as we were opening it Marilyn asked us if we'd like to go to the Grange dance that night. If we remembered correctly those things were more like rat races than dances, so we declined. Marilyn, Dick, and Francis chorused that we'd be sorry. Upon inquiring why, they told us Helen Borgeson was feature attraction of the evening. It seems she wss the key-tickler for Cody Hollenbeck's Hoedowners, with the Beer Barrel polka as her theme song. Much 88 we would like to go, Mary and I had to separate and travel forward, she to you-alls land and I to my lost week. Finding my helicopter fixed and filled with atomic energy, I decided to leave for California and, if necessary stop again on my return flight to blow about old times. Landing at the air field, I flagged a tsxi. Finding myself all in one piece, I was about to give the address to the driver when I recognized Lynn Judson in the front seat. Guess I must hsve looked stunified 'cuzz Lynn laughed and told me about Eddie end Lynn's taxi Bureau —renowned for getting people to their destination, dead or alive. Lynn mentioned the fact that Eddie had taught him to drive in the California traffic. About then I decided to fine out whether yours truly's insurance was paid in full. While furiously digging through my purse for my insurance policy, Lynn took off with one big Jerk (meaning me), but finding th8t I was worth $10,000, I decided to tske a chance anyhow. As he squeezed through a traffic J8ra he pointed to a billboard with Helen De Young's name in big bold letters, a-long with her picture. She was a fan dancer at Club Oriental, a must if you had decided to do the town up right. Knowing that I was going to do the town up right, Lynn kept naming off innumerable things to do end see. Among them was a visit to the famed Pork Club, where Judy Beck was a cigarette girl. I got out of the cab and ran into Hilda Faber, a news reporter on the Los Angeles Tattle Tale. She has been in California for three years. Hilda told me that Donna Allen was out in Hollywood. She was working for Metro-Goldwyn Meyer. She is a secretary to the big director. After leaving Hilda, I went into the Hotel Walderf-Eastoria where whom should be behind the desk but Clayton Ihrke. I talked with him 8nd found that he and Shirley Schroeder own the hotel, and he 8lso said that Sam Absher and Waifred Lundgren were in the Cherry Pie business. Waifred baked the pies and Sam sold them. I also learned from him that Pat Mansfield would be in Los Angeles the next day modeling 8 sink no more bathing suit. By this time nothing was a surprise to me, so I decided to look everyone up later that night. I finally asked for the key to my room. As the elevator wasn't working, the desk clerk cslled a bell-hop. Who should come walking toward me but Mr. Stoikoff, our old class advisor. While we were walking up to the 35th floor, he 8sked about the rest of the class, snd I gave him the same line that I have Just given you. So as not to overwork the line or myself, I will end this quick-like. 21
