SEIIGEAXTS CU B Somewhat of a parallel may be drawn between the Student Congress and the Sergeants Club, fust as the former organization discusses and settles the problems which confront the general student body, so the latter group attacks and settles those that arise in the gymnasium classes. The members both set and achieve high standards for the inspection and rating of students in the various classes. Each sergeant has also her individual duties in the gymnasium period to which she is assigned. She takes attendance, checks attire, gives directions, and supervises closely her group when the varied equipment of the gymnasium is in use. The zeal with which these officials work has resulted in ever-increasing interest in the work of their department. They are invaluable aids to Miss Mary B. Wucherer who is in charge of the girls' activities. Fifty-nine

SEWINC. DEPARTMENT “ Po sit on a cushion and sew a line seam”. Years ago this quotation summed up the ambition of most 0111114 ladies. Some of this art of line sewing is preserved in our sewing classes where the girls learn dainty and decorative stitches, lint fancy work is not their only accomplishment. Dresses and coats which could do justice to many a professional coutouricr have been fashioned by our nimble-lingered maidens. During the month of pril. tin- seamstresses, buried under yards and yards of pastel colored tulle, finally emerged with the finished costumes for the various choruses of the school operetta. Oh Doctor! Miss Sarah Ilarrigan. City Supervisor of Sewing. is the efficient guide and instructor of the classes. HOME ECONOMICS DEPAKTM EXT The development of confidence, poise, and all the social graces is as much a part of the work of the Home Economics Classes as the training in the methods of selecting and preparing foods. In the completely equipped kitchen and model apartment, the girls under the direction of Miss Margaret Kelly, aim to make themselves real home-makers. The work in dietetics and food chemistry is especially valuable to those girls who plan to enter the nursing profession. The practical aspect of their training was demonstrated this term when they entertained the Evaluating Committee at tea. The visitors from Mount St. Mary's Academy were also the guests of the members of these classes. Sixty-one
