Put I had the most amazing experience the other day. and with a hurst of energy never before equalled since my high school days hack in 41. 1 decided to write vou about it. Kvidentlv you were the only one absent front Grand ( entral Station on June 22 in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and sixtv-one. It used to he said that if one sat long enough at a corner of the Rue de la Paix in Paris one would see everyone who was anyone in the world pass by. After my experience on Friday. I would change that I ’d call the Grand Central Station, the crossroads of the world. Yes. sir. one date and place that I will never forget is Friday. June 22. 1961 in that railroad terminal. As you know. I am usually late, hut for once in my life I was early. I was supposed to meet and interview Mayor Ernest Weiner who was coming to Xcw York from Basilcville for the W’indjabbers' Convention meeting at the La Came Hotel. I received a great shock, however, when Dorothy Smith, the clerk at the Information Booth, told me that the train would arrive at 4:10 instead of 12:41 because “Gat Hahereck and his mob had held up the liver in an attempt to kidnap Felicia Greco, wife of the wealthy ammunitions and explosives king. Henry Brozozowski. Fortunately, the plot was a failure because the criminals were quickly apprehended due to the capable police work of Lieutenant James Bennett and his boys. I then decided to kill some time by having a bite to eat at Henri Xuchniewicz's Cuisine Delieieuse. As I entered. I noticed Leonard Karpel. the Gollin Bubble Gum commentator, and his private secretary. Peggy Moore, getting some gossip for the program from John Coughlin. I left the restaurant, and a few minutes later I hum])cd into Bob Burns and Henrietta Michota. the lovely model whose charms you have probably seen displayed on advertisements for Wetmore Mud Packs.
