3 Wal l ,470 Q Q ' ' l If the Light Could Speak If the light on the dome of Pat Neff Hall could speak, what tales it would have to tell . . . From the moment one steps on the Baylor campus, tales of tradition are told to the newcomerg the most obvious and one of the most exciting traditions being the tower of Pat Neff Hall. One soon learns that the green dome is much more meaningful than the white. What does the green dome symbolize? Well, for the most part it symbolizes a Baylor victory. The week after a victory, the dome shone brightly in a brilliant and proud shade of green, boasting the school's victory. Students were pleasant- ly reminded of the victory throughout the week as they walked across campus, or merely looked out their windows. Baylor fans were fortunate to see an unexpected green dome for most of the '85 football season. But even when the f . ., 4 fqfi . ,wrt ' ,. :satis-ri-P 2 Opening green light faded to white, the winnir spirit was kept alive in its' people, by tl ones who believed in the coach and tl team. So, we weren't undefeated, bi what does one call a season of victor when the team was predicted to have season of losses? That's called winning. lf the light on the dome of Pat Ne Hall could speak, it could not keep tra' of wins and losses . . . only victory. l Opposite Page, top: Thomas Everett, a first team . ,470 O O I U cademic Challen e With the attraction of over 200 Na- tional Merit Scholars, a ranking among the top 20 institutions in the nation, and a law school that boasts the highest pass rate among graduates in Texas Law Schools, it's not hard to see why Baylor's academics are a part of the winning tradition. Freshman are met with an academic challenge from the moment they first ar- rive on campus. The small fish in a big pond syndrome hits, as freshmen realize they're among the elite academically. Valedictorians and most likely to succeeds are a common find. But students are not met with discouragement in their academic endeavors, but rather a strong sense of purpose and direction. sors and instructors focus on every student, their abilities and talents, not their flaws or weaknesses. Within weeks, the Baylor student is filled with a sense of pride and purpose - that spirit that motivates us to keep striving to meet the challenges ahead. in-as ZW W mm A MM: 4 Opening Above: Outdoor studying provides a way for getting away from the library and soaking up the sun.
