O O I 14 70' Where Talent bound There's no way around it . . . a winner is usually talented. Musically, athletical- ly, academically, whatever the case may be, a winner isn't a winner unless he or she is utilizing his or her talents. Baylor encourages the growth of students' talents through the school programs themselves, through choir and theatre programs, and many other programs. Baylor produces performers in many different fields. The university has berth- ed athletes, politicians, performers, doc- tors, missionaries and successful business executives. A large portion of these talented students blossom and expand their horizons during their time at Baylor. Amidst the cream of the crop students are motivated to develop their abilities to their maximum potential. Instead of a competition for success and fame, the Baylor student is driven by the desire to be the best they can be, to use the talents and abilities given to them by God. Students are also motivated by the many performers and groups which come to Baylor and Waco. Amy Grant, DeGarmo 8: Key, The lmperials and The Vienna Choir Boys were only a few that came this year. i 1 4 3 1 f 1 8 Opening Above: A student performs in All-University Sing, a production which brings out some of the best of Baylor's talent. I O I I l it 14 70 Gro th Sparks Changes Part of what makes Baylor a winning tradition, is the constant growth that oc- curs, year after year. With the increase of enrollment this year, additions to Hankamer Business School were much needed. It was obvious to visitors, as well as to students and faculty, that there was a growing problem of parking near and on campus. This growth was met by the planning of a parking garage begind Martin Dormitory. Growth does not merely mean big- ger necessarily, but sometimes better as is seen quite frequently around Baylor. Grant Teaff, the coach of Baylor's football team had a book published, Winning: It's How You Play the Game, which proved to be a winner in itself. The Covenant Campaign, a public relations campaign to increase Baylor's endowment was also launched, just to cite a few areas of Baylor's recent growth. A proud new addition to the bear pits arrived in the Spring, Iudge Burleson or Rufus arrived and became Baylor's newest mascot. i Amidst old traditions, such as are ever present at Baylor, the winning tradition continues by the university's ability to grow and change, and still remain stand- ing strong for its' principles. 10 Opening S E F . .--I Above: Coach Grant Teaff signs a copy of one of his books for Ledith Blair at his Fall signing party, in celebration of the publishing of his new book.
