I O 0 O ,4 70 Place for Ever one Beginning with Welcome Week, min- con leaders bombard students with a surplus of available activities that Baylor offers, Some try everything, some decide to stick to studying. Whatever a student chooses, he or she can be sure to find a place to plug in at Baylor. To a confus- ed student, it seems the visits from club representatives and flyers advertising meetings and parties will never end. At some schools, the purpose for involve- ment could be competition with other groups, at Baylor, the purpose for wan- ting a student to be involved during his or her academic career may be multiple. 6 Opening Right: The man who makes all activities happen, Mr. Ruben Santos, rides in the parade. Below: Girls find time to socialize at intramurals, as well as play. Opposite page: The BSU sponsored a tug-of-war for all who participated in the DIG program. Bottom left: Campaigning is a popular pastime in the Fall for freshman, as they elect officers. Right: Steppin' Out sponsored a 5K fun run to kick off their active week. But t e real reason is to make the stu- dent feel needed and important, to chan- nel a student's interests and talents into an activity which will enrich the stu- dent's life, as well as the lives of others - it's just one more way of putting win- ners with winners. O O I 14 70' Where Talent bound There's no way around it . . . a winner is usually talented. Musically, athletical- ly, academically, whatever the case may be, a winner isn't a winner unless he or she is utilizing his or her talents. Baylor encourages the growth of students' talents through the school programs themselves, through choir and theatre programs, and many other programs. Baylor produces performers in many different fields. The university has berth- ed athletes, politicians, performers, doc- tors, missionaries and successful business executives. A large portion of these talented students blossom and expand their horizons during their time at Baylor. Amidst the cream of the crop students are motivated to develop their abilities to their maximum potential. Instead of a competition for success and fame, the Baylor student is driven by the desire to be the best they can be, to use the talents and abilities given to them by God. Students are also motivated by the many performers and groups which come to Baylor and Waco.
