BFIYLOR be many after us, but these years are ours to remember forever. It was only once in a life- time and it belongs to us. We can't do it over: it would never be the same: and we must go, leaving the dreams and visions that we had for Baylor to others who will walk the same walks, live in the same rooms, gaze upon the same campus in the dusk of a quiet fall evening, ,pass by the same lamp posts with the same names on them year after year. They will listen to the same chimes and lift their eyes to the same soft green and gold lights that shine in the same tower. We will come back someday and the same campus will be here. We will be strange to the new ones-but we will not be strange to the towers or the walks and rooms, for we had four years of Baylor as no one else will lever have them. They were ours and no one can take them away. It was only four years and we didn't think too much about it at first. But it grew as a part of us+-we were Baylor and we always would be ..... 144 .lang ew Szfww 5446! Shane

7a 16945 Me Wage af 76-we Foreword The first day, the slime cap, the awe-fil1- ing senior, wondering what the Baylor spirit was-it was all four years ago or three or maybe just one. We didn't think too much about it then, because at the time it was just another day and another new and wonderful discovery. And then the Baylor spirit began its work on us as it had in years past on thousands of others who chose to make Baylor a part of them. We had heard about it from the others who had gone before us, but it sounded a little too sentimental. The pep rallies, the dorm meetings, chapel, Homecoming, The Immortal Ten, holidays. classes, new friends, That Good Old Baylor Line, Corrigan week-end, Focus Week, May Day, Ring-Out, and graduation-these were all a part of it. For some it took a whole year, for others it took longer, but we were not excep- tions-we were Baylor and We always would be. It was to become a way of life. We didn't know it at the time, but we were living the four best years of our lives. They were short and they were full but we were not different from the rest. It took all four years to start us on the way to our highest realiza- tions-and when we were finally seniors and had just the final step left to go we knew that we had just begun. It had been a long journey together. We found that it takes more than one person to make up one complete life. The names and people we knew during those four years are as numerous as the stars in the sky. Many we will never see again, but the memory is there forever. There will

D DR. WILLIAM R. WHITE President of Baylor University Nineteen hundred and fifty-two 'marks the end of President Whitefs fourth full year at Baylor. ,For ,Baylor students, all or part of these years are crowded with thoughts of tra- ditions that uphold Baylor's spirit. And somewhere within these thoughts are memories of one whose gentle but courageous spirit, synonymous with Baylor's, is ever present. His spirit was first seen in 1948 when lhe accepted an invitation from the freshmen, to be an honorary 'member of the class of 1952. During 'these years visions that have been in the future for decades have suddenly become realities, guided to success by one 'whose faith inf Godwcmd mankind is infinite. His faitht so humbly 'displayed with' deep understanding for our joys, problems, and disap- pointments, gives us faith in turn to strive for a clear perspective and high ideals. He has instilled within us the Spark that preserves the traditions and spirit of Baylor. Knowing that 'Dr. Billy' trusts us in the years to come to carry high the torch that is symbolic of Baylor, we feel a sense of responsibility that has not ending. For some- time, many years hence, :out of the joy or darkness of a fleeting moment, a word spoken or an act performed may come back to renewour faith or give us courage. Knowing that his eyes will be upon us. and his heart and thoughts with Baylor forever, with affection and deep regard, we dedicate these. pages to him.
