.f'zof,ous--- TIME stalked with more significance over Baylor life this year than in any other col- legiate year. Each indication of passing time-the stretching shadows of the towers, the slow circuit of a clock's hands, the tearing of a sheet off the calendar-struck reverberations in the mind of hours, days and scenes that made the past, and hours, days and scenes that will be the future. The marching feet of the Naval pre-flight cadets kept time with the taut pace of education for warg boys of draft age studied against time to get their degrees before they were called to the colors, the reserve groups trained more intensively for both their future and the war. Time's fitful breath was felt on the campus today, when yesterday it was only heard .... The ship of '43 is ready to be launched into the sea of life. lts voyages are a thing of the future. And what is a voyage? A voyage is a passage through time and space that adds to the dignity of man. College days . . . an inimitable, colorful array of events, full of vitality and freshness of youth, have been captured by the eyes of the camera and the keys of the typewriter and given permanence in this, the 1943 Round-Up. To the fresh charm of college life, which in the restless youth stirs exciting dreams of things to come . . . which in later years return again and again in memories of captivating events and youthful blending, unspoiled friendships .... to record that unique glamour has been the purpose of the yearbook staff. Today we graduate, tomorrow we go to war, but yesterday . . . Yesterday we entered Baylor. Here we combined hundreds of creeds, ideals and philoso- phies into one simple, useful way of living. How was it accomplished? The secret lies hidden in the enveloping gloom of Time. We cannot now retrace our steps, but we can focus the telescope of time back-all the way back to gray walls and green grass . . . to honor and duty . . . to wind and sun . . . to laughter and music.

t A I I Ullllttlllll Preaching the precepts ol' the Prince of Peace, he has lighted the paths of lite for generations of Baylor students. As Baptistdo1n's revered scholar, he has been in the vanguard of leaders in the past. But his teaching will bear its greatest fruit in the garden of civilization tomorrow. Upon the bed-rock of Christianity, civilization must. build a house which will stand the storms of the centuries as though builded on a rock . . . which not wash away when the floods of darkness and ignorance descend. For what he has meant. in the past, for what, he will mean in the future, the l9A1'3 Round-Up is respectfully dedicated to Josiah Blake Tidwell A faithful and notably helpful interpreter of God's tlol-v lllorrtf' -GEOIIU-li W.
