PREWORD Here are your future memories, caught as they hurried across the narrow threshold of the present into the twilight country ofthe past. A college year is made up of people and the things they do. The students of Baylor have painted a picture, vibrantly alive with the glory of conquests, with rollicking fun and laughter, and with hours of more serious thought and study. lts reflection is on these pages. No attempt has been made to build the boolc around a historical motif or a traditional frameworic. We have tried, however, to catch the spirit of the times, without which the picture would not be true. It has been our effort to present the memories of this year in their proper setting- the splendid buoyant spirit of change and progress, which, in spite of difficulties, loolcs ever forward, glancing baclc- ward only for a foundation upon which to build a more glorious future. The boolc has been made for you. its success depends upon your reception of it. We hold the mirror to your view.

1 '-1 'r of us need yield place to another in loyalty and zeal. But to some it is given, from time to time, to render a greater service, and we feel it a right and a joy to acknowledge them. To the memory of Dr. S. P. Broolcs, appealing in his simplicity, in- comparable in his hospitality, impressive in his dignity, and full of native wisdom, and to Dr. W. S. Allen, whose lceen insight, Fine ability, and steady devotion have enabled him to be always a doer of great things, we now pay tribute. To the spirit of the man who for twenty-nine years toolc the leading part in the building of Baylor's glorious past, and to the man who, as acting president, carried on so bravely in this crisis in Baylor history to point her to a more glorious future, the 1932 ROUND-UP is dedicated.
