U16 .Aesculapian I 956 Senior Editors: ROGERS K. COLEMAN LAMAR WEEMS junior Editors: JERRY SANDERS HERB SKOGLAND Sophomore Editor: TIM LOWRY Freshman Editors: COLEY CARLSON FERNANDO SCHWEITZER Faculty Advisors: DR. J. c. HALEY DR. R. P. WILLIAMS Photographers: WILLIAM J. ANDERSON III WALTER E. WILLIAMSON, JR. The 1956 Aesculapian represents the first effort at Baylor Medical College toward a yearbook separate from the Baylor University Round-Up. The need had been felt for some time for a souvenir book representative of the student body and faculty of the medical branch. The idea for publication of such a book was originated within the Interfraternity Council and in the Spring of 1955 the first concrete plans were made. This year, under their sponsorship, this first publication was produced. Inexperi- ence and lack of precedent have taken their toll in confusion, mistakes and delay, but a book has evolved which, at least in a crude way, preserves the memory of the people and events of 1955-56 at Baylor University College of Medicine. Publication of this book was a cooperative effort and the editors are indebted to all who contributed. Robert O'Brien supplied the artistic talent in designing the cover and the divider pages. Mary Voorhess found the quotations used. Marvin Samuels and Coley Carlson split the twenty-five dollar prize given by Dean Olson for selection of the name for the book. Dave Watson gathered the information for the building section. Bonnie Sue Wooldridge deserves a special bouquet for the help she gave. Bill Gerstein did an excellent bit of research into the history of Baylor Med. One of the most difficult tasks in the book was handled by our photographers, Bill Anderson and Bud Williamson. Bill took most of the group pictures while most of the snapshots and the faculty pictures were the tremendous responsibility of Bud. A word of thanks is due those faculty mem- bers who purchased subscriptions to the book. Our advertisers make the book financially feasible. Congratulations to Mrs. Campbell to whom this first book was dedicated by vote of the Interfraternity Council. Good luck to jerry Sanders and Herb Skogland, Senior Editors for next year. May the second book be better than the first. ROGERS COLEMAN LAMAR WEEMS
