1928 THe BA1f.c6r .ANNUAL 1928 YN In VARSITY BASKETBALL Cm-9 UR basketball team of this year under the guidance of Coach j'iggs', U ' Donahue and Captain Dugan has surpassed all other Bayley High School anis. They began their campaign with three veterans of last year's Varsity: IL .--. . .H . . . ' Dugan, Dempsey, and Giordano. The two vacancies left by graduation were ably filled by Mott and Hourihan. These were assisted by an excellent squad of subs. l 'We established an enviable record, winning twelve out of sixteen scheduled games. For the first time in the history of our school we defeated St. Peter's High School of New Brunswick and this, after live years of perseverance. While going strong the team was seriously handicapped by the loss of Captain Joe Dugan, who broke his wrist just before the Kingsley game. However, Geary filled his place very well and soon they again hit their stride. Although we did not perform so well in the State Tournament, we attribute this to the fact that it was our first attempt. However, we wish .the teams of future years better success. Last but not least we should give a word of commendation to the Scrubs without whom the team could not hope for success, to our Manager, Joe Kinsella, who arranged a line scheduleg and to Father Donnelly, our Athletic Director.
