1928 THE' 73AY.,C6'Y QANNUAHC 1928 ww new JUNIORS GAIN we greet the world as a class but this year as juniors. We have now travelled more than half of the journey to our goal, the Senior Class. If success be the result of perseverance, we shall all meet you in another year, having won our laurels. NV hen we entered the junior room, in September, we were filled with pride, and it was not a false pride. VVe were convinced that we knew all that it was possible to know. This belief we did not cherish very long however, as the Faculty soon showed us that we were inferior in divers ways. VVe had been told by other classes, that the junior year would be very easy and we prepared for a pleasant period of no studies. But all these illusions soon vanished when we were introduced to our new subjects. Many decided that they had learned enough Latin, having struggled with Caesar for a year, and deserted that ancient and revered subject for studies of the commercial world. Qthers remained faithful and are still contending with Cicero, and another formidable enemy, Algebra, The work of the first semester seemed very difficult, with few holidays, and when the Christmas vacation came we gave it the heartiest welcome. How we revelled in anticipation of remaining in bed until eleven o'clock each day for one whole week. But vacation ended all too soon, and shortly after we returned we were faced by the Mid Year Exams. If anyone ever deserved to be rewarded, the members of the Junior class merited having their names inscribed in a special register. No one ever saw such activity and anxiety as were registered by each and every one of us and only finally dispelled when we received our marks some weeks later. After these ordeals were over we were very much interested in sports, and why shouldn't we be? Two of our best men were placed on the Varsity Basketball Team and helped it to be the great success that it was. Nor must we forget the Junior Varsity which had a very successful year, winning nineteen out of twenty- two games. Can we forget the Girls' Glee Club which played such an active part in the lives of the girls? This new club has listed as a member nearly every junior girl. VVithout the assistance of these members it might not have been so successful at its first public appearance on Christmas Day. We are eager to finish this year as we began it, with just pride in our a.c- complishments and good will toward all, hoping that next year we shall all be Seniors and play our part to the best of our ability in making our final year the most successful of Our High School careers. VVe extend to the Seniors our heartiest wishes for success! Sixty-lwo
