XSD T is our steadfast belief that coming events cast their shadow before them. As proof positive, we point out that an addition to the High School was built just before the entry of the Class of '28. We entered '51, ,C as scheduled, and gave the new rooms a trial, finding them highly satis- factory. As soon as we were accustomed to our new environment we settled ourselves to study.. While the majority of us found plenty to do in this line, a few found time to try their hand at basketball. One of the latter made the squad, and what a proud Freshman Class we were when he received his letter. Having reached the end of this, our first year at Bayley, we decided that someone should represent us in the outside world. Accordingly, we sent out some of our most competent members as advance envoys of what, in our estimation, was the best class in the school. After our well-earned vacation, we climbed the stairs and assumed our position as Sophomores. Literally, we looked down scornfully on the puny freshmen, perhaps unjustly, for we had only recently been in just their position. This year we carried out our determination to distinguish ourselves in athletics, for we placed two varsity men and a substitute on the basketball squad, with two girls represent- ing the fair sex on their squad. These live contributed considerably to the suc- cess of their respective teams and to our own feeling of importance. Then, when it was decided to have a baseball team, one of our athletes came to the front and upheld our newly made reputation. Thus did we gain the prominence for which we had dared to hope. By this time we were accustomed to the pursuit of the various subjects required, and we made a very creditable showing. As the year drew to a close we looked backward with pardonable pride on our achievements Fifty-three
