Smtvr Hvlen Gllurr HE month of March was indeed a sad one for the 9-.CQ pupils of Bayles High School llhe Angel of Death f s like '1 thief in the night stole away the pure soul of V Sister Helen Clare while everyone was hoping and l praying for her speedv recovery Sister Helen Clare came to us from the College of Saint lzlizabeth in September 1992 where she had been a teacher of l nglish for many vears To know her was to love her Endowed by God with a pleasing personality and an energy for interest in her work and highly polished by the refining influences of the religious life she went about her daily duties quietly unostentatiously xet constantly shedding sun shine and happiness and captivating all by the divine sweet- ness that radiated from her. Progressive and modern in complete sympathy with the minds of the young she was tolerant of their defects. Sister Helen Clare looked upon teaching as a serious profession- not only the training of intellect but the training of charac- ter was her aim. She gave one the impression that education was for the purpose of learning how to live right not merely to earn a living. Utter fairness was her dominant trait. If at times she was forced to resort to severity any pupil was willing to accept reproof because she had taught him to use his reason, that right is right, and fair is fair. This is the picture that we will always carry of Sister, a living model of a good saintly woman. May the Good Sheperd comfort those she has left behind and give a place in His heavenly home to Sister Helen Clare who Worked nobly in His cause. 1928 THE 73AY.C6'Y QANNUAL 1928 WI qw gr wg' . . . .
