CLAY? HISTORY On one Seotember day in l9h3, fourteen oassengers boarded the steamshln entitled U.S.S. Boosevelt for a journey thru thir- teen long years of school. Six girls, Mary Mozena, Marlene McGee, Clara Wailes, Priscilla Watkins, Lois Bogan, and Janice Cameron, seven boys, Tom Carrick, Lowell Man z, Bonnie Lawrence Jerry Qtofer, Barold Van Cleave, Jerry Stone, Clifford Said and Lyle Crlffln started our shin saillng Fight of these haooy sailors have continued with the voyage for all thirteen years Our Caotain was Mrs Anderson Sailing into first grade we lost only one, Lyle Crlffin Miss Lyons was our new director Being nromoted to another rank, which was second grade we olcked uo four new recruwts, Bobby Alex, Betty Bielenber Belen Weir, and Mariorie Mozena Miss Ehrhardt commanded us For our third year rating Jack Myers, Beverly Wood, Qhirley Crawley, Donna Hulbert, Jerry Bower, Jerry Qumner, and Teonard Kro h iolned us Miss Lund wa our suoerior officer Our fourth voyage found us with eight new nassenvers, Bee Taylor, Jim Qhank, Norma Taylor, Myrna Mears, Virglnla aylor and Joy Hedges We lo t two, Qhlrley Crawley and Clifford Qald Miss Garland guided us through this trio Our fifth mission gained three newcomers Wendell Cordon Billy Moree and Bowland Drake Mrs Qchreek wa leader of this mischievous lot of haooy sailors Our cruise this sixth year wasn't as orosoerous as our others because we lost Wendell Cordon and Billy Moree and re cruited none, with Miss Betts guiding us Makmng the voyage Jlth us for the seventh year we had a newcomer Ohirley Qtratton and a new Cactain, Mr Baeth On our last and eight voya e in grade school, guided by Miss Watkins, we lost two sailors, Shirley Qtratton and Rowland Brake exoer enced saulors with three new ones, Linda Weddle, Qhirley Crawley, and Jerry Colbert Our snonsor for thws year as ene Coffey Tn the next two years we oicked uc Joyce Benfleld, Marlys Bh llwns, Floyd Jacobsen and Don Cornelius We lost Lois Rogan Marlene RcCee and Marlys Dhwllios Our snonsors we e 'r qtrautman and Mis Craves As we rounded the last lao of our 1ou ney me find as our commanding officer, Lowell Mantz and our nflots as Joy Hedges and Beverly Wood These are the hanoy recruifs tho finally droooed the anchor and sailed into a vorld of thei own Jack Pyers, Vary Mozena, arwo ie Mozena, 'hi ley Cravley, Linda meddle, Toy Uedves, Joyce Benfield, Beverly Wood, Clara Wafles, Norma Taylor, Betty Bielenherp, Pr'sellla Watkins, Lowell Mantz, Harold Van Cleave, Don Cornelius, Jerry Qtone, Jerry Colbert, Ceor e Ayers, Bonnie Lawrence, Tom Carrick, and Floyd Jacobsen +- 1 my f 'J 14 I , .
