Athlvttr Azznrmttnn OmCCYS President Lloyd Moreland Vlce president Russell Rlcharcls Treasurer Norman Arbour The annual electlon of officers of the Athletic Association was held on September I5 the closed ballot system belng inaugurated at thls election The nomlnatlons were glven by petltlon and then voted upon by the closed ballot ThlS change ln the method of votmg was a declded improvement over the former style and will no doubt be continued xn the future With the addrtlon of football to the sports curriculum the Executive Commlttee of the Athletlc Assoclatxon had more business to attend to and held lts first session early ln the fall The commlttee was composed of Prln clpal C-atje Presxdent Lloyd Moreland Vice president Russell Richards Treasurer Norman Arbour Semor Representatlve Evelyn Greenberg unlor Representative l:.dward Flynn Sophomore Representative Burtns Leyrer Freshman Representatlve Hazel Klrkup The primary Importance of the first meetmg was to decide how much should be appropriated toward purchasmg equxpment for the football team Conslderlng the fact that there was not an overabundance of money ln the treasury and that the boys had expressed thelr wllllngness to ralse the money themselves for the equlpment the commlttee resolved that fifty dollars be set aside for the football team The whole school rallied to the support of the team later however ln a subscrlptlon campaign conducted by the Crowell Publlshlng Company and enough money was ralsed to purchase fifteen um forms for the players The next Important meeting of the committee was held the last week m October at which time definite plans were made for the basketball season The next and probably the most Important sessxon of the Executive Com mlttee was held on February Z8 At this meeting several important resolu tmons were passed by the committee to be voted upon by the student body at the next regular electron of the Athletlc Assoclatlon The resolutlons were l The girls basketball team shall play all home games ln the after noon 2 All members of the Athletlc Assoclatlon shall be assessed dues of twenty flve cents each term 3 The seventh and eighth grades shall be eligible for membership to the Athletic Assoclatlon At the next electron of the A A whlch was held on March 7 these three resolutions were put on the ballot ln the form of amendments and voted upon by the student body Resolutions l and 2 were passed by large ma jorltles but number 3 was defeated In summlng up the year s aCtlVltlCS of the Athletlc Assoclatlon lt mlght be truthfully sand that the officers and members of the Executive Committee performed thelr dutxes very efficlently The year was a success financially although the balance ln the treasury IS not quite so large as It was at the enrl of the year previous There IS a substantial balance with which to start off the l928 29 season however and a more prosperous term lS contemplated HI 0 0 0 , . v I 1 Y - l 1 , , , .J ' , . , , . , , . , . . - . . ., , , . . - Y 1 ' mgm
