Ellnnthall Football was added to the sports curriculum of thls school last fall by popular request of the student body Consldermg that lt was the flrst time that the sport has ever been attempted here the boys dtd not make such a bad showmg even though they won no games The squad was organized early ln the fall wlth Cllfton La Platney as coach Although many candldates reported the boys were comparatlvely lnexperlenced and rather light Wlth hard practlce however they developed mto a falrly formldable aggregation and were ready to open the season agamst Patchogue The boys put up a game Hght ln that first game but the odds were agamst them and they were forced to bow ln defeat to the Patchogue team ln the remamlng games vslth Huntington Port efferson and Rlverhead the players showed a declded xmprovement and wlth most of the regulars back next fall the team ought to be able to make a credltable record The regulars were Captam William bchaeffer Captam elect Edward Flynn Paul Cromn Ray jarvxs Wllmot Wlley LOUIS Maas Bernard Cut tmger Max Strehlau Burtls Leyrer Fred Wlcks Samuel Wlddlheld and Fred ty ames O Nell Theodore amlson and Cornellus Lmehan 0112155 Ezlakvthall ln an effort to arouse mterest ln basketball and to discover maternal which could be developed mto varslty calibre for future teams Coach Ray mond V Chester continued the class league whlch proved so successful last year lhe league proved to be so popular the season previous that the student body clamored for 1tS re organlaztlon The league was composed of teams representing the Senlor umor Sophomore and Freshmen classes The Senlors jumped mto the lead at the beglnnmg of the season and held It throughout provmg to be too strong an aggregatlon for the other teams The champlonshxp squad was composed of the following boys llarl Bull Frank Helbng Rlchard Hegarty Samuel Wlddlheld Robert Meade Kenneth Petty Robert Stocks and Bernhard Guttmger Edmund Lenehan coached the vlctornous qumtet 14 Watts.
