Art Exhibit The art exhubut held un the Hugh School on the evenung of November fourth l927 proved to be very unstructuve to both chuldren and grown ups aluke The purpose of thus exhubut was not only to teach the pupuls the names of puctures and theur respectuve artusts but also to guve them a love of all thungs artustuc and at the same tume to teach them the art of pucture hangung Thus sude of school work ought to be boosted as well as any other for ut should be the desure of all to brung the boys and gurls un contact wuth varuous forms of art durung theur school years Before the guests went upstaurs to rooms 6 7 I0 and l l to admure the many well known puctures a program was guven un the audutoruum An open ung number was rendered by the orchestra composed of Hugh School boys after whuch a talk was guven by Muss Rachel Bones supervusor of art concern mg the puctures Next a set of tableaux representung famous pauntungs was shown The tableaux were as follows Boyhood of Sur Walter Raleugh Mullaus Age of lnnocence Reynolds Song of the Lark Breton The Artust s Mother Whustler The Cleaners Mullet Mr Duck and Mr Turkey by the lst and 2nd grades The unuor Hugh gurls next dud a umpung ack drull after whuch the 3rd and 4th grades sang The Shell A apanese Song was beautufully rendered by the 5th and 6th grade gurls Soon a Wand Drull by the unuor H gh gurls took place after whuch the orchestra played uts final selectuon The auduence then went upstaurs to the dufferent rooms and pa sed a very enjoyable tume lookung at the famous puctures Mary Wunegar 28 Annual -I xlnhrt The annual exhubut of the Bay Shore Publuc Schools was held on Wed nesday evenung Aprul 25 under the auspuces of the Parent Teacher Assocua tuon The work of the students was put on dusplay un both the grammar and hugh school and as an added feature thus year the vusutors were afforded an opportunuty of seeung the classes of the hugh school buuldung un sessuon There was no school on Wednesday afternoon but unstead the regular afternoon clas es were held at nught A large number turned out to wutness the exhubut and seemed especually unterested un and pleased wuth the classes un sessuon Thus new plan un augurated by the Parent Teacher Assocuatuon undoubtedly guves the parents and fruends a much better udea of real school work than can any dusplay of papers There us somethung more realustuc about ut uf the students can b seen un actuon The first class peruod began at 7 30 and was of forty munutes duratuon two more peruods of the same length followed the last peruod endung at 9 30 At thus tume the enture student body assembled un the audutoruum for the weekly Wednesday chapel exercuses The audutoruum was packed to capacuty wuth the huge crowd of people who had come to wutness the exhubut As a specual feature of the exhubut the pupuls of the 8A Literary Club gave a short one act play entutled llducatun Mary whuch was well acted and met wuth great approval on the part of the large auduence Those who appeared un the play were Harvey Oakley Patruck Laugh l n Ro alue Bueru Emulue Barta Frances Hora and Mary f'ortunato The play was coached by Mrs Perry O Wunegar Lloyd Moreland 2 8 40 3 , t,,,t,t, , ,,,, , ,,,t , ,,,, 5 , , ,, - ,,,, ,,,,, , , , , ' Another selection was then played by the orchestra, followed by a song, I . . 7 1 ' - 1 7 J 7 7 ll II J .I , s n 7 -I n ' r-I l 1- ' - 7 - Q Q u . . . . . . e I , S 1 o 1, 1 . . .
