From the very first moment we entered their lives, they have given of themselves whole heartedly in an effort to guide and protect us. They have been a constant source of help and understanding. Therefore, we, the class of 1982, lovingly dedicate this Portico to our parents, in appreciation for all their love and support. X fffff , f' , ,X ..-X' Because of zz Friend . . . I have to say that accepting this position has taught me one of the most meaningful lessons I have ever had to learn - if you have friendship, then you really mn make it through mzyfliingl Through all of the all nightersf' the tears, and the panic of feeling we were never going to make it, having friends to lean on and depend on was what got me through it! I Thanks everyone! ! A special thanks to Diana without whom I never would have been able to do it! I The Class of 1982 would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to Mr. john Foster who is always there when you need him. Aside from being a tremendous teacher, he is a Caring human being who contin- uously gives of himself so that others may learn and grow. Also, thank you for always being there whenever we needed a quick picture! Fondly, ,Mike f ,lflfrtficf Dean Marcia Conrad Advisor to 1982 Portico 77 QUIK ifc, f Col. Wilfred Wright Advisor to the 1982 Senior Class Dear Col. Wright, When we first came to Bay Path as Iuniors, you informed us that our word to live by during our experience at Bay Path was CHALLENGE. To face this new experience as a CHALLENGE that we were going to meet and surpass was to be our goal. Thank you for the guidance and support as we all strive toward our goals! WE MADE IT! ! The Class of '82 Presidents Message Following Commencement each of you will be traversing different paths and pursuing your specific objectives. According to the French philosopher Montaigne it's not the arrival that counts, it's the journey. The rewards of your Bay Path education will be the contributions it makes to moving you closer to the achievement of your goals. Some of you will retain your student status at colleges and universities in pursuit ofa baccalaureate degree. Your preparation at Bay Path will serve as an excellent foundation on which to build additional skills. Although you will encounter normal problems of adjustment to a new and perhaps larger collegiate environment, you will nevertheless be an experienced student with developed self-discipline who has adjusted to college life. Many of you, in fact most of you, will retire as full-time students, continuing your education in the future, in the evening, or on weekends. Yours will be the world of work and financial independence. This is the world that you as students, describe as the real world. This is what you've been working toward and waiting for, and yet as the time approaches, you are understandably insecure. You will be called upon to compete in the marketplace for employment - to sell yourself and to produce, to perform, and in essence, to succeed. You will have to stand the true test of the quality of your intellectual, technical and social skills acquired over years of preparation. Apart from the sheer necessity of sustaining life, of being economically self-sufficient, there is inherent worth in work. Work is noble, unless it is dishonest or destructive. It is at the core of most lives. We devote nearly one-third of each day to work, and our occupation melds inseparably with our identity and our human relationships. Whether your chosen path is that of student or employee, your world is one in which values and stereotypes have changed so quickly that traditional choices and solutions no longer apply universally. It is in the business of living that your choices and decisions will have the greatest impact on your lives. The kind of woman you are and the kind of human being you are striving to heroine are even more important than the degree you earned. The quality of your life is infinitely the most important element of your future. All of us at Bay Path sincerely hope that through your exposure to the wisdom of the ages, knowledge of the human condition, appreciation of the arts and literature, and your study of the other liberal arts components of your Bay Path education, you will enjoy not only productive and fulfilling careers but effective and meaningful lives. We hope your choices will be made with wisdom, and our wish is the fulfillment of your goals and dreams. Dr. Ieannette T.
