The 1970 Portico reaches you at the conclusion of what I hope has been an exciting and stimulating year. I believe this yearbook captures the excitement of the Bay Path Campus during the past academic year. The Portico will be a lasting reminder to each of us of the challenges we faced together and either mastered or failed, in the continuing process of growth and change which is the essence of life itself to us personally and to Bay Path as an institution. The Class of 1970 cannot leave the campus without my taking this opportunity to express the College's sin- cere thanks for the varied contribution the Class has made-strengthening of student government, improve- ment in our student activities program, the challenge to our faculty through a sensitive involvement with our curriculum, development of new ideas for our convoca- tion programs, leadership for the Class of '71-these and many other subtle contributions which bring us to the end of this year with a strengthened base upon which succeeding student generations can build and from which they will benefit. ln meeting the demands of your individual roles through the years ahead I implore you to maintain the unselfish attitude and the patience necessary to the practical fulfillment of your ideals and social objectives. You and your family may live through fifty or more years of unparalleled world change. The direction of that change, and therefore the life which you, your children and your grandchildren enjoy, will depend upon the cumulative effect of a multiplicity of rapidly changing relationships. While the challenges you face will be unparalleled, l am convinced the world has nev- er been blessed with more people realistically con- cerned and dedicated to the solution of its problems and the creation of a life of dignity for all mankind. Wherever life's road may lead you during the years ahead, I hope that you will remain an active member of the Bay Path family, not primarily for the nostalgia of the college days gone by, but because Bay Path will need your interest and devotion to meet its responsibil- ities to future student generations. At the same time, I expect that the College can and will have an increasing role to play in the lives of its alumnae. We are counting upon you to make this relationship viable. Bay Path's concern for you does not end with the granting of your associate degreeg we hope your concern for the Col- lege will also last a lifetime. Each of you must face the challenges and responsi- bilities of the future in a different way, drawing upon your own strengths and capacities.
