Building Upon the Foundations of the Past Growing interest in Bay Patl1's goals was evidenced through sex eral generous gifts to the college. ln 1947. Mr. George H. Empsall proxided Bay Path's lirst dormitory facilities when he presented limpsall Hall. once a private home. to the college. As Bay Path's physical plant grew, its academic otferings were by no means going unrecognized. Authorization to award the As- sociate in Science degree was granted to the college in 1949 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Glen Hall, formerly a garage, was converted into additional classrooms and an art studio in 1956. Additional quarters for resident students were made possible through the philanthropy of Mr. Hiram Bollum, a college trustee. His generous bequest made Bollum Hall, a modem dormitory housing l 16 young women, a reality in 1960. Empsall Hall '-1-v-ig-fln' 20
