1974 Yellow jacket Presented By The Bay High School Annual Staff Bay, Arkansas Dedication Mrs. Shirl Coleman For 25 years this person has taught the first grade at BHS. She has helped the students get used to school life and has helped prepare them for their future education. The guidance and welfare of many boys and girls has been her responsibility. Many of us can look back on our first grade year and remember her kind and understanding ways which captured our respect and ad- miration. Greatness is hard to reward, but we the annual staff make an effort as we dedicate the 1974 Yellowjacket to Mrs. Shirl Coleman. A ready smile and the eagerness to help Is one of the characteristics of Mrs. Coleman. Students gather around Mrs. Coleman as she illustrates how to use an abacus. A Woman We’ll Always Remember The beginning of the day will find Mrs. Coleman preparing for her classes throughout the day. Always ready to encourage a student. Mrs. Coleman assists this child with her math. 5 Construction Of New Gym Gets Underway The first load of bricks arrived. . .the first beams were put up. . .the roof was completed. . .one wall was bricked, leaving space for a window. . .little by little it was constructed. In a rural area such as ours, the school bus plays a very important role for almost every student who attends Bay High School. Nostalgia will perhaps someday dominate their memories of that old yellow bus they rode for twelve years. From the falling of golden bronze leaves in autumn to the bursting of radiant pink blossoms in early spring, the yellow school bus goes on its merry way. The New Is Here, But The Old Will Always Remain In Our Memories For 35 years, the students of Bay High School have taken P.E., played basketball, and cheered the Yellowjackets in this gym. By other schools it has been called Crackerbox , “Matchbox , and The Cave among other things. The BHS students have listened to all the remarks made about this gym, sometimes agreeing with them, but always defending BHS. Now, we are lucky enough to have a new gym, but these scenes will always bring back memories. O’NEAL FORD 2000 E. Highland Drive Jonesboro, Ark. 72411 Next to Indian Mall 113 .
