The French Club’s car wash proved to be a big success. OFFICERS: Jana Howell, Treasurer; Carol Tucker, President; Charles Wal- ker, Reporter; John Frivance, Program Chairman; Madeline Penton, Sec- retary; Peggy Clark, Reporter; Mrs. Jane Clothier, Sponsor. French Club Le Cercle Francais is an enthusiastic group of stu- dents who promote interest in the French language and culture. Club members actively participate in many of Bay High’s activities. Miss Jana Howell was the club’s candidate for Homecoming queen; her lovely float rep- resented the Fleur de Lis. After Homecoming, the Cercle Francais devoted its time to ‘The Teens Against Polio Drive,” and to the annual Language Club Party, which was a great success. Interesting club meetings were presented throughout the year, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Clothier. Miss Jana Howell French Club as homecoming queen candidate. Who has the class’ attention, Daphne or Mrs. Clothier? represented the

Club members work as student assistants to teachers at Bay High, observe regular classroom routine in elementary and junior high schools, keep the nursery for Parent- teacher meetings at Panama Grammar School, and serve as substitutes for absent teachers in local elementary schools. All of these activities are planned to give mem- bers experiences which will be helpful in preparing them for the profession of teaching.
