ASSOCIATION The 1956-1957 GAA of Bay High has become a very active club and par- ticipates in many activities of both school and civic affairs. Miss Annie O'Grady was the first sponsor of the club but it is now under the sponsorship of Miss Dorothy Wise and Mrs. Rebecca Lyons of the Physical Education department. The purpose of the club is to pro- mote a spirit of fellowship among the girls who participate in the club. They learn team work, ability to follow as well as learn to lead, and engage in friendly competition. This years club is larger than the clubs in previous years and is steadily growing in numbers as well as in activi- ties. The club participates in volleyball, speedball, basketball, softball, and in- tramural games. The club is divided into teams for the different sports and the teams compete against each other. Each year the club elects officers for the year. The offices are President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Chairman, and captains. g W ,t -, Mary Lou Waterfield Homecoming Queen Candidate SPONSORS: Crightj Rebecca Lyons and Dorothy Wfise. I-IOMECOMING. .. Parade. . .pep rally. . .Big Blow. . .presenta- tion of Hnalists. . game. . .coronation ceremony . . .and dance. As Homecoming Week sailed in, in November of ,57. Scads of planning for the traditional event at Bay High, took the pain and time of clubs and their sponsors. Settin, the woods on fire! The seniors began to realize the importance of time during Homecoming activities. After working on the annual event for three consecutive years many felt lumps in their throats as they sang the Bay High Alma Nlater and listened to Queen Sheila Leto present her speech on Homecoming night. I45 Standing on the corner. . . On Thursday night before the game on Friday the students gathered in the rear of the gymnasium to watch skits which were pre- sented by various clubs, to yell the familiar cheers, led by Bayls cheerleaders, and to wit- ness the ,57 Big Blow. A huge bonfire helped to lighten the spirits of the crowd. . .The five Homecoming finalists for queen were presented after the Big Blow. Clubs sponsoring queen candidates met after the Big Blow to decorate convertibles to be used in the parade. Homecoming Friday. . .a very busy day. . . especially for queen candidates' who had to rush to get to their convertibles before the pa- rade began. The game and coronation made history for the Class of 357. Gonna rip it up! CDothan Tigersj In-- WB'
