GLUE Mrs. Jane Clothier, who is shown at the right, is the only teacher at Bay High w h o teaches French. Mrs. Clothier, sponsor of the French Club, is the favorite teacher of most students who have classes under her. One who took French or Spanish from Mrs. Clothier during '57 might recognize the expression, Only three years 'til retirementf, French students are sure to know the importance of words in everyday life. A student who has studied French would never be stumped in a restaurant which used a menu with French names of foods. Carol Schneider. . . belle of the French Club radiantly smiles as she represents the club in Homecoming activities. BENCH The French Club acquaints students who are enrolled or were previously enrolled in a French class with the French language and culture. The French Club meets once a month during homeroom period. During the meetings of the French Club at Bay High in Panama City the members enjoy entertaining programs, discuss bus- iness, organize committees to work on pro- jects, and vote on questions which arise. The French Club is not generally thought of as a money-making club, but an exclusive club dedicated to the enrichment of its members.

The Pan-American Club is one of the if 3 largest at Bay High. .6 PANAMEIZICAN ul CLUB The Spanish students in the Pan-Amer- ican Club elected Miss Carol Willis to be their Homecoming queen candidate. The Pan-American Club of Bay High is an organization which offers to its members an opportunity to enjoy the language of Spanish in an informal sit- uation. The club is made up of Spanish students from Mrs. Clothierfs and Mrs. Blackwell's classes. The Pan-Ami' members enjoy social, recreational and cultural activities outside the classroom. Many interesting programs are presented at the monthly meeting and the members of the club are always delighted to hear speakers during the programs, who are familiar with the language of Spanish and have visited the Spanish-speaking countries. The Pan-American Club is active in school affairs during each year. The club sponsors a con- vertible and Homecoming Queen Candidate during Bay High Homecoming. 4'Pan-Amy members are always willing to work in charity drives, such as Bay High's UTeens Against Polio campaign. Each year the Spanish, French, and Latin clubs have a ulanguage party,', each club acting as host in turn. The Pan-American Club also has a party for its members during each semester. Phil Weaver, Rachel Clothier, Pat Bridges, Chip Stapleton, and sponsor, Mrs. Elizabeth Blackwell, are shown on the back row with Barbara Pel- , ham, Martha Veverka, and Sally McNeil shown -. on the front.
