hmmm X ' N. M. Hornsby, BOTTOM E. Murphy, D. York, RAIIIO 82 T. V. CLUB Radio, which came to Bay High in 1951, has made considerable pro- gress. It began, with all the other publications, THE TORNADO WHIRL, THE WHIRLWIND, and THE PELICAN in one room. Radio- television has now grown into a class of its own, with 19 students enrolled. Television was added in 1955. The students of the radio-television journalsim class, under the direct- ion of Mrs. Inez Jones, have a five minute world news radio program every school day and a five minute Bay High News television program on Thursday afternoons. The radio programs are presented every school day at 2:55 P. M. over WDLP. Last year they were presented over WPCF once a week. The television programs are pre- sented over WJDM at 5:30 P. M. ' Each day two students are on radiog one is the emcee and one is the id reporter. Daily the students use TOP ROW: M. Byrd, J. Whittaker, R. Nobles. lag qw 1llQ'l -. 'fiilff SECOND ROW: J. Wright, S. The reporter edits and tacks up enough news for a program. There are three students appear- ing before the television camera of WJDM every week. One is the em- ceeg one is the sports or school background news reporterg and one is the school news reporter. The students gather, write, and edit their own news. Several practice rehearsals and a studio rehearsal are required before each television program.
