The story Cas everyone who attended the play will rememberj is centered around a young teen- age girl, Maudie, who has a 1ine for every situation involving a boy. Maudie's rather quiet sister, Sylvia, has always been in love wmith Jerry. But Maudie, who is naturally very generous, tries very hard to get Sylvia engaged to Ted Felton, the banker's son. Through a mix-up which only Maudie could create, Sylvia almost takes Maudie's own boy friend, Davey, away from her. The play is a general mix-up of boy friends. Joy, who has always been shy around boys until she starts to follow Maudie's system, finds her- self on the receiving end for a change. Sudden- ly she has more than her share of boy friends. Alix, Julie, and Lysbeth, three very good friends of Maudie's listen to her woman-of-the-world advice, although they aren't wholeheartedly in favor of it. Poor Mom and Dad just have to suffer the conse- quences of Maudie's doing with Margaret, the maid, trying to help as much as possible. With Chi and Davy calling on Joy, and Mrs. White, Mrs. Allen, and Mrs. Day calling on Mom and Dad, there isn't much peace around the Mason household. But worse doesn't come to worst--therels-a happy endingl Sylvia gets Jerry, Maudie gets,Davy, and all the boy friends go back to their rightful owners. BETTY JANE HALL A Connecticut Yankee in King Ar- thur's Court, a humorous story of a young engineer whose mechanical ex- periments land him in the court of King Arthur, was presented by this year's senior class March ZZ and 23. After the Connecticut Yankee finds himself in England in the 500's, strik- ing contrasts between the old and the new develop into a series of perplex- ing events. The young engineer introduces tele- vision, radio, aviation, and football to the astonished kingdom of Arthur but soon finds out he is up to his neck in hot water. The wickedness of the court magician and Morgan Le Fay, the naiveness of Sandy, the sincereness of Hank, the saucy-inquisitiveness of Elaine, the gullibility of King Arthur, the domi- neeringness of the queen, and the simplicity of Clarence the Page helped this delightful comedy find its way into the hearts of the audience. 1 r . 1 I l 1 l GLEE CLUB 1 Sl r I r , n at I ,mimi ' ,, Y ff N A Arm ',,zQjy,,AV 4 x 'Af , Tw.-,-N, ., I ' Mx,- l Y 'A X .WI .l ,.,, Q , -xl. i I f ' r . .A , 'N sir rx 'FY ' Sffmw 'wxmrokf 1 The Advanced Boys Glee Club sings at the annual Fall Concert with the accom- paniment of Freddy Conrad at the piano. He has then fallen in love with Yum-Yum, but he has been prevented from marrying her by Ko-Ko, who wishes to marry her himself. Ko-Ko, however, has been condemned to death for flirting. Nanki-Poo hastens to find out whether Yum-Yum is free. Nanki-Poo learns that Ko-Ko has become Lord High Executioner, thus preventing the sentence from being carried out. Ko- Ko is, in fact, going to marry Yum-Yum. A letter comes from the Mikado ordering Ko-Ko to execute somebody or else lose his position. He can't find anyone to execute, when Nanki-Poo appears bent upon suicide because he cannot marry Yum-Yum. By marrying Yum-Yum for a month, Ko-Ko persuades Na.nki-Poo to be the subject for the execution. The rejoicing is marred by the appearance of Katisha, in quest of Nanki-Poo. She is driven away, but threatens to tell the Mikado. Ko-Ko comes in with the news that when a married man is executed his wife is buried alive. To save Yum-Yum, Nanki- Poo decides to kill himself. Nanki-Poo offers himself for immediate decapitation, but Ko-Ko cannot do it without some prac- tice. Nanki-Poo and Yum-Yum leave the country. The Mikado soon appears. The only hope for Ko-Ko is to produce Nanki-Poo alive. Ko-Ko solves the problem by offering him- self to Katisha. The opera ends very happily. IIA lIBO0K UUMMITTEE As we worked we laid plansg plans for a whole year's activities at school. We put Bay Hi's policies, curriculum, Con- stitution, calendar and other important bits of information into a book which served as a guide to students, called BAY HI WAYS AND MEANS. As we laid plans we put them into action. Painting the supply center, making signs to keep the sophs from getting lost, cleaning the trophy case, all came as a part of pre-school planning. Then the doors swung open wide to greet us and the school year began. We gave out handbooks to the underclassmen fand women, and settled down to a long win- ter's work. We were expected to look into the '55-56 year. Now we look back with a mixture of wonderful memories and wonder how we ever made it. Barbara, Mays, Judy, and Drusie prepare the Student Exchange for another school year. By the time school opens, pencils, paper, and other school supplies will fill the shelves.
