iecords---- to our success in everything. It was hard to choose those to represent us at Girls State and Boys State but we finally decided. Gretchen Nelson, Ann Cruce, and Anne Carey Lee went to Girls State while Albert Rowell, Frank Mustoe, Bill Bailey, and Laurence Avery went to Boys State. This climaxed our year as juniors of Bay High. We felt that we were well prepared for ''The Year of all Years-that long awaited senior year.'' It seemed good to be the ones setting the example and leading the whole school, But also we knew how important it was to set the right example so to start off, Albert Rowell was elected the leader of our class with Carlee Hendrix to assist him. Anne Carey Lee was elected secretary and Barbara James was elected to handle our finances, . Wade Swicord was president of the student body and did and excellent job, He had had experience the year before as vice- president, For officers of state organizations, we had Anne Carey Lee as parliamentarian of The Florida Future Homemakers and Ann Cruce as secretary of the Florida Latin Clubs. Jean Biggs was our homecoming queen. Joyce Campbell was head cheerleader. Gretchen Nelson was awarded the Daan, vedal, Soon, it was time for our banquet. We, seniors enjoyed the food, fellowship, and entertainment in the atmosphere of a Valentine theme. The next big event was the Senior play. Main characters were: Dolores Mead, Peggy Hutchison, Charles Walsh, Asa Maynor, Philip Johnson, Jimmy Hoskins, Richard Sturgis, Billy Hardy, Lee Stephens, George Hicks, Jerry Fleming, and Rainesford French, Of course, our committees did an unusually good job and the play w as a huge success, Another highlight of our senior year was Skip Day. All the members of the graduating class of 1953 were outstanding and this is the thing that made our four years at Bay High so very outstanding. We shall never forget the things we learned from one another and the lasting friendships we made. As time draws near for graduation, may we remember to continue to do our best always. Anne Lee Class Historian og.
