X .; Principal of Bay County Normal School Horse-and-buggy days when men with a “bit of learnin’” were welcomed throughout the country side, when birch rods were concealed behind every school room stove, when the rustic formula — ‘“Readin’, writin’, and ’rithmetic’’ — held sway—all these golden days of antiquity have vanished. In their stead, learning and the means of imparting knowledge have been magnified and improved until today educators regard their profession as a science, a science that inspires appreciation for democratic living and America. Junior college provides the fundamental study not only for city teachers but offers as well a two-year specialized course after which graduates are qualified to teach in rural Bay County schools.
