Remember those senior themes? SPANISH I Building a vocabulary Study of correct pronunciation Mastery of elementary principles of grammar Study of sentence structure and Spanish composi- tion Use of idiomatic expressions Study of the culture of Spanish-American Drill in the spoken language I8 Bdnylldyg Four credits are required in English. The purpose of Grammar I is to improve communication skills. Particular attention is-given to correct forms of parts of speech used in sentences. In Grammar II much time is devoted to verbals and dependent clauses. Reading, writing and spelling are continued. By the time a student reaches his junior year he should have a good foundation of the essentials of sentence structure. So Grammar III is a detailed review of all such elements of sentence analysis. Credits required are 17 plus 2 in physi- cal education. English 4 credits, Natural Sciences 2 credits, with General Science required for Freshmen. 1 credit World Historyg 1 credit American Citizenship, 2 credits in mathematics which includes Algebra and Plane Geometry. Q-qrfs The really important thing in all literature is want- ing to read. The purpose of Literature I is to give each student a background in future high school literature courses. In Literature II in addition to poems and short stories . . . SILAS MARNER, JULIUS CAESAR, and IDYLLS OF THE KING . . . are covered. Eng- lish III literature is devoted to the study of American Literature from the time of its beginning to the present time.
