Supe1'intemient's Message TO THE GRADUATES OF 1954: Education is essentially a creative unfolding of human life. It is the stuff from which come competent parents and substantial citizens. It teaches one to not only live with himself but with others. Our education for Democracy is a necessity for peace throughout the world. You are progressing toward your place in the community. There is not a moment without some duty. You should consistently do your best to perform that duty, True happiness is the result of an enthusiastic performance of your duty. You can and must decide your destiny. Plant things in your mind which will later bear fruits of under- standing and good-will. If you have faith in things unseen, it will give you strength and force in your conviction. Grow not weary in well-doing for whatever you sow, you will surely reap. The amount of happiness and success that you obtain will depend upon you. There will be failures, but your greatest glory will be how well you may arise from your fail- ures. He who makes no mistakes does nothingg he who makes too many mistakes loses his job. So I entreat you to do your best. H JWMM7' JOHN H. CHERRY Superinterzdent of Bay City School!
