Her home has been a second home for the many teachers who were so fortunate as to live with her during their educational duties in Baxter. She has acted as a foster mother, counselor, nurse, chauf- feur, and lovely hostess for her girls. The food provided in her dining room has de- lighted her male guests throughout the years and has caused those of the opposite sex to fore-go all thoughts of dieting until the summer months - for who could resist her culinary achievements? And then there are those who feel that she is a direct representative of Dan Cupid in Baxter. In witness thereof, note the many successful marriages culminating from romances which began when the girls were staying with Lola. We are proud to dedicate the Oriole to a devoted unofficial member of the Baxter school system, Mrs. Willis Klopping, known to all as Lola. Editor . . Photo Editor . . Assistant Photo Editor . . The remainder of the evening was comprised of dancing, refreshments, and lots of fun. Despite groans of despair and complaint, the Freshman secretly looks forward to HIS day, Freshman Initiation. September 6th, was just such a day. The halls were filled with frightening and ridiculous-looking creatures. Had Mars invaded earth? No, they were Freshmen undergoing the customary ritual before becoming a full-fledged B. H. The Concert Band, although a young band, consisting of thirty-eight players, seven of which are beyond the ninth grade, is quite well balanced in instrumentation. They work hard towards establishing good music principles all the time and much progress has been made, considering they have only had one-half hour practiceaday. An effort has been made to provide a good variety of musical experiences, marching activities, and playing activities which include marches, classicals, standard popular, and popular music.
