These representatives of the Baxter School patrons labored tirelessly to complete the school reorganization plans. Upon the culmination of this task, they launched the building project. Many hours of their time were sacrificed to enable the Baxter Com- munity, the faculty, and students to enjoy an enlarged school plant. The appreciation of the community will be expressed in many ways, this is our contribution for a job well done . Actually he was only a freshman in disguise. His eyes were filled with terror, fearing a mighty senior might show. He walked with the uneasy step of bewilderment. The day seemed like it would never end. That evening as he waited more torture a bunch of cool cats really livened up the party. Man, even Elvis was there. His worst torture was eating grapes. After that he had a wonderful time at the party. You can always tell a Freshman By the way he stands and stares. You can always tell a Sophomore By all the books he bears. You can always tell a Junior By his fancy clothes and such. You can always tell a Senior But you can't tell him much. X I '.'Lx : ff- K W1 is-93315-.. HALLOWEEN 4 I DEDICATIO DAY He listened to the sound of the band as it echoed in the new gym. He bowed his head as the Invocation was given. As the speaker gave his address, he could remember when the new school was just in the planning stage. He remembered also how the workmen worked all through the winter in order to complete it in time. After the program he could hardly wait to show the people the new school house. 33' 5 131 MSR He was not too dejected for there is always a next year, TUURNEY TIME He jumped and cheered, but it was all in vain. The cheering of the crowds, the smell of popcorn. There's the final buzzer, before he knows it he is swept on to the floor with the crowd to congratulate the winning team. Yes, it's Tourney Time again. ATIO AL FIELD DAY He could tell he was drawing near the site when as far as he could see, either ahead or be- hind, automobiles blocked the view. But on the right, across the field he could see a series of large tents and circling the local country side were hundreds of tractor drawn wagons carrying people ofall kinds. All of a sudden one line of horn honking cars started moving and soon he could see a large convertible. Homlscoml G PARADE Senior Float Junior Float X Sophomore Float Freshman Float In early October, he and many of his friends, helped the local fireman fight the spectacular Mercantile fire. His attention was soon turned to the political scene, as everyone else's with the coming of National Field Days, highlighted by the appearance of political figures of national recognition, Through the fall and part of winter he listened eagerly to reports as the Suez conflict reached a crisis and then watched the U.N. take steps to settle the matter. His year was filled with events on the lighter side of life also, as he watched Elvis wiggle, rock and roll his way into the hearts of millions of teen-agers, and as he witnessed the exciting dramatic, yet somewhat comical flight of a student pilot over the city of Des Moines. Compliments of THE BAXTER MERCANTILE AT THE GAME Clowning with thc opposition! Cheering them to victory! iff gis- fbc f ,125 -1 - is X fp VALENTINE' PARTY His energy seemed inexhaustible as he danced almost every dance. It seemed as though he stepped into an- other world as he passed through the red and white streamers hanging from the doorway. The decorations were highlighted by a big red heart hanging in thecenter of the room. hp... When he did stop he always seemed to end up by the punch bowl. Everyone enjoyed the shoe dance. L Even tain. Oh, that punch table! ! ! Rattle -head Janes was there to enter' s He relaxed long enough to enjoy the program And those Happy Whistlers made every- one feel gay! He could have danced all night, but as the evening drew to a close he stepped our of the Land of Valentines to take his valentine home.
