MARY LOU STUCKMAN, B. S. Art and Commercial This was the first year for formal art classes in the Baugo Township School. Miss Mary Lou Stuckman of Nappanee was employed to teach art in all grades and in the high school. High school art was offered as an elective with eleven pupils enrolling in this class. The only art training that pupils had received prior to this year was whatever time the elementary grade and iunior high teachers decided to devote to this type of training. ln these classes students gain knowledge of drawing, color, design, perspective, sculpture, and commercial art. Art im- proves personal taste and helps develop an appreciation of artistic values. ln addition to Miss Stuckman's duties as an art teacher, she taught one class in beginning typewriting and the shorthand class.
