DEDI ATI WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE 1946 GRADUATING CLASS OF JAMESTOWN HIGH SCHOOL, DEDICATE THIS ANNUAL TO OUR LOVED AND RESPECTED PARENTS. THEY HAVE STOOD BY AND ADVISED US IN OUR TRIALS OF LIFE. THEY HAVE PROVIDED US WITH AN EDUCATION SO THAT WE MAY GO OUT INTO LIFE WITH A GREATER UNDERSTANDING AND TAKE OUR PLACES IN SOCIETY AS USEFUL CITIZENS. OUR SINCERE WISH IS THAT WE CAN PROVE THAT THEIR EFFORTS HAVE NOT BEEN IN VAIN.

?o'zewo'zd Throughout twelve years of elementary and high school, many things stand out in a pupil's memory. For each pupil these things vary: and yet most of the memories for each of us are associated with events which have become traditional in our American school life. Our first day in school, freshmen initi- ation, trips to the principals oflice, a reprimand from a teacher, class parties, hay-rides, skating parties, intramural athletics, chapel programs, class days, class plays, Junior-Senior banquets, baccalaureate, com- mencementg these are but a few of the many activities and experiences which will be remembered long after we leave school. It is our hope that this book will assist the reader, as he looks through the pages of this 1946 school annual, to recall many pleasant associations and ex- periences with classmates, teachers, and friends.

MRS. Rosh GRUVFR, office girli Principal VJAYNE COOK Perhaps the busiest person in our school is Mr, Wayne Cook, our principal. His interest in school activities has been ceaseless: his efforts seemingly untiring. Some of his many duties are to work out a satisfactory school program for every boy and girl in high school, so that they can meet the state requirements for graduation, organize the school program of studies at the beginning of the year, keep adequate school records of achievement and attendance for every pupil fnearly five-hundredj, write excuses for absentees, make decisions on all matters of an administrative nature, discipline pupils who are sent to the office, attend meetings called by the county superintendent, conduct teachers' meetings, assist the teachers in any and all matters whenever assistance is needed. These are the jobs that must be taken care of during his spare time. In addition to his administrative duties the principal supervises two assembly periods and teaches four regular classes each day. This year the oflice of the principal has had the part-time services of an office girl, Mrs, Kenneth Long was employed during a part of the first semester and Mrs. Rose Gruver during a part of the second semester. Some of the duties of the office girl are as follows: assist in all clerical duties such as writing of letters, recording grades, filing, help in preparation and distribution of announcements, handle the incoming mail, answer the phone, etc. The 1946 School Bell Echoes
