I 5 x l ' ' Most Studious Boy LLASS HISTORY We the Senlors of nmeteen hundred and flfty began our school career 1n 1939 Mlss Bagby our f1rst teacher was very kznd and cons1derate Many of us started 1n grade one and we were glad to welcome Woodrow Heath who jomed our class durlng the last half of the term We remember only a l1ttle of what went on ln the f1rst grade, but at the close of the sess1on we were promoted to the second grade Upon entermg grade two we had M1ss Landram for our teacher Joyce Heath and Joan Mayer were added to our class In th1s grade we began to learn our mu1t1pl1cat1on tables and to our great joy we were promoted to grade three In the th1rd grade Ramon Hughes jomed our class We were happy to have M1ss Pugh as our teacher We thought thls grade was very hard because we had many more subjects to study M1ss Baylor was our fourth grade teacher We were now really begmmng to study we thought for we began to study from our Hlstory books about events that took place many years ago We had fun 1n grade f1ve w1th our teacher M1ss Eames Our class aga1n grewwhen we added Joyce B1nn1x and Henry Hardmg to the roll We had our ups and downs but at the end of the year we were promoted to the sxxth grade Mrs Redd was w1th us 1n grade s1x We were st1ll studymg but It d1dn't seem so hard because we had learned what real studymg meant We enjoyed the p1cn1cs and partles we had that year To our class we welcomed Russell Slmpson who had left us 1n the fourth grade Stanley Bosher also jomed us After a summer vacat1on we were ready to take up our books and begm study1ng aga1n w1th our teacher Mrs Dunham Mrs Dunham gave us many happy moments to remember for she gave us a surprlse Valentme Party and she was always ready to help us ID every way pOSS1b1e bhe helped to put the fmlshmg touches on our Englxsh and other stud1es so we would be ready W1th Mrs Eubank our homeroom teacher who was ready to get us started on the r1ght road m h1gh school we prepared to make all our tlme count for our f1rst year 1n h1gh school would always be somethlng to remember We lost several of our classmates and fr1ends due to a dtsturbance 1n our school but we were glad to welcome John Howdershelt Our tr1p to Wash lngton was enjoyed by all The followmg September we entered the Sophomore room and were pleased to have Mrs Sweet for our homeroom teacher We were glad to see some of our fr1ends back who had left us the year before We also welcomed B111 Marlow and Dan Thomsen We enjoyed our hay r1de and we1ner roast that year Mr Reynolds was ready and eager to teach us 1n our Jun1or year Our Jun1or Semor party was one of the spectal events of the year Mr Reynolds had h1s hands full 1n chemxstry class but they managed to struggle through w1thout destroylng the school We now had a l1ttle more confldence 1n ourselves and the purpose for Wh1Ch we stood We have now reached the goal to wh1ch we have looked forward slnce we fxrst entered school To become d1gn1f1ed semors has meant that we have worked played and struggled through the happy tlmes and the hard and trymg txmes of school together Mrs Eubank who started us off 1n h1gh school was now ready to help us 1n our last year We would l1ke to take thxs opportumty to thank the members of the faculty for the1r guldance and support through school We thank our parents for prov1d1ng us w1th such an opportun1ty and wc w1ll always be grateful to them We are very happy to have Cec1l Jackson w1th us now to share the joys and happ1ness of graduatlon As we leave thls school and start a new l1fe for ourselves may we have a sm1le and a kmd wo d for those we meet and may we always remember our motto Whlle We Llve Let Us Lxve ' Audrey Bosher Clas s Hlstorxan '1 . ' I I ' I I Y, nl - - ' u . . , , SENIOR CLASS PROPHEF Y It was the year 1960 when I was havmg a short vacat1on and longed to see mv classmates of 1950 once more I had begun to wonder mf they all had achleved the hlgh goals they once de slred so I dec1ded to take a short tr1p and see them As I approached R1chmond I passed a tra1lor and whom should I see but Ida Mae gomg on her summer vacat1on Also there were two l1ttle heads hangmg out of each wmdow only two wmdows though When I reached R1chmond I stopped for lunch at one of the restaurants Whom should Isee f1rst but Lorame She IS now Super1ntendent of Nurses at the Medlcal College Hospltal Wh1le we were talk1ng I asked her about some of our classmates She mformed me that Henry's am b1t1on had led htm upward and onward untxl he was the governor of h1s nat1ve state and that Ramon was a prosperous lawyer ln Washmgton D C I sald goodbye to Loratne and then dec1ded to go shoppmg My f1rst v1s1t was to Mlller and Rhoads where I saw Joyce Bmmx as buyer for the ladles hostery department She told me that she had been marrled only one year I asked her about Joan and she repl1ed that Joan was then Soclal Ed1tor of the Rlchmond Ttmes Dlspatch and that Audrey was a prlvate secretary 1n San Franclsco Returmng to my car I sw1tched on the radlo and whom should I hear but M1ldred and Myrtle the M1tchell twms They had a program of thelr own w1th Bxlly as thelr announcer As I moved the d1al I heard that John was play1ng pro football for the Washmgton Redsk ns and that B111 a m1ll1ona1re from Florlda had had a ser1ous operatlon As I was dr1v1ng along I saw a Slgn that read Rotella's Used Car Lot I guess Holt makes a pretty good prof1t on old cars made when my great grandfather l1ved Next I stopped for the afternoon paper When I turned to the soclal page I saw that Joyce Alexander had Just made a tr1p to Reno for her fourth dlvorce She hoped that ner f1fth marrlage would last longer than two weeks In the Fxfth Avenue column I saw where Ann was ore of the top commerclal artlsts In the same column I read that Joyce Heath was starr1ng 1n a Broadway productlon as the leadlng lady w1th Cecll as her dlrector In the sport sect1on I saw a famtlxar face and I recogmzed lt to be Dan a star basketball player w1th the R1chmond Rebels I started off agam and saw that I needed gas so I stopped at a serv1ce statxon where Stanley was the manager and st1ll a bachelor too He told me that Clxfton and Russell were 1n an electrlcal and plumblng busmess together and that Floyd was agr1culture teacher at Battlefleld Park As the day was com1ng to a close I started for home and as I was passmg a large farm I saw a s1gn that read Woodrow Heath's stock farm Further on down the road I passed a small truck farm and saw Wesley busy p1ck1ng tomatoes for market Just look at all my classmates All of them seem so happy They deserve to be too As for me well there 1sn't much to tell I am County Health Nurse 1n Deane County I have been marr1ed for some tlme now and to me my husbard IS everythmg I Just couldn't get hlm away from the offlce for thxs tr1p though Dorothy Wh1tlock Class Prophet . 1 , . 1 0 , . . - 1 o . . 1 , . . . - A I 1 l ' - - - ll ll , .
