The Class will never forget ll'illie's refreshing sweets usually distributed on Biology excursions. lt has been rumored that XYillie is fond of taining the women, but there are no evidences of the vo- cation as yet. SADIE ELIZA BETH XY.-XRD Too hne for praise, too modest to believe it. lt would be impossible for us to get along without Sadie. She is a shining light in English Literature, and has made a good record in basketball. ln everything we do, she always stands ready to help gladly, Her calm. sweet dignity is a proverb. throughout the entire High School. She lists as her pet abomination the society of men. jfjl-IN C.-XSXYELL XYILLIAMS lt is excellent to have a Giants strength. 6 b Caswell, convinced against his will. is of his own opinion still. lt is true that Caswell is fond of disagreeing. ln fact. he says his favorite pastime is out-arguing his opponents. Caswell is a good player on the basketball team. Prob- ably he plays best when a certain spectator is present. Anyway he says his chief ambition is to Gain-or or lose her.

14 --Che itgmlanner -- lass History 6 G ARK YE! ln the good old year of 1913 we began that process in '55, Llrfg .,A.V ' life known as an education. ln a small school resembling a dwelling - - house there gathered a crowd of shy, teacher-fearing children. Many Q L3 of us had not learned to trust the kind teachers, and consequently we stood, or at times sat, in awe of them. Mrs. l-largrave was our teacher. and to her belongs the credit of having trained us in the ways of the school. ln this lirst year, we did not accomplish many things worthy of mention. We did, however, learn the first p1'inciples of reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic. ln the second grade we had for our teacher Miss llcl-eocl. ln this year we were still pursuing our studies, and, of course, we did not have time to make Ourselves famous in any particular event. Xl'e did, however, pass boisterously ic- the third grade. After leaving the third grade we felt quite dignitied, for we were now classi- fied in the grammar department of the school. Our troubles, however. seemed to be just beginning, for here we began the study of geography and high-er mathematics. lt was hard, too. for us to understand that the South Pole was just as cold as the North. Nevertheless, we linally passed up to the lifth grade, half believing and half fearing our subjects. ln the sixth and seventh grades we became interested in athletics. Many of our class timidly played with the older students. and in this way learned about the different sports. Then that memorial time-when we entered the High School as Freshmen. Many bold tales did the Sophs tell us of the duties of a Freshy, yet we pushed on, fearing nothing. ln this year some of our more daring students ventured into the tield of athletics, and gave us a feeling that, in spite of all the Sophs said, we were high school students. How proud we were as Sophonioresl We were no longer, l7reshmen, who felt as though we were considered inferior to other students. Mr. Crissman was our Principal, as well as teacher. ln this year our school made wonderful progress in studies and athletics. Mr. Crissman coached our Basketball team and, with Mr. Lowe, helped our boys win the lirst Championship. Many of our class participated in the lirst championship game, thus arousing class spirit. ln our junior year the school again won the championship, this time in both the boys' and girls' game. Thus we possessed again the much coveted cup. ln this year we began the study of Agriculture. The boys were very much interested in this course. as they learned many new principles and improved
