1972 Dedication This year the 1972 Phoenix is not merely a dedication to a highly esteemed faculty member. This year’s Phoenix shows the quality of his inspiration. While here at Battle, he has taught many students the funda¬ mentals of driver education, physical education and health. He has coached athletes in football, golf, and basketball. His education was completed at Tusculum College, where he majored in business administra¬ tion and minored in physical education. He received a Bachelor of Science degree before pursuing his teaching career. Throughout the year, he served as a fine example of leadership. Through his guidance, many young ath¬ letes found his knowledge unlacking and sportsmanship incomparable. Students appreciated his friend¬ ship and used his guidelines diligently. But, no students could appreciate him more than the Phoenix staff members themselves. For with his help, numerous tasks were accomplished that required a masculine touch for completion. With these accomplishments held high in students eyes, staff members proudly dedicate the ’72 Phoenix to a friend and respected instructor, Coach Howard C. Webb. Our lives are filled with conflicts Small crises haunt the mist of success ‘Success is simple — only know your defeats.’ People slide by, skidding on glazed faults which mirror life; The tumult we suffer must be endured; knowledge, the dimness of fog, shines never brightly, but is guided by divine inspiration. — Anonymous
