Anders and john are both from Norway. The flat farmlands of Iowa provided quite a contrast to the ocean, fjords, and mountains of Norway. But our Norwegian friends seemed to enjoy their visit and we were happy to get to know more about Norway. ,I ' . 'prev f f ' its f .rf ' is f I' . .Q A of I SW . ,fQ :fEgfefif?v? Teresa Dausel broke her own school record in taking second place in the discus with a throw of 98-9 at the Lake View Invitational. Teresa also grabbed third place at the meet in the shot put with a toss of 28- 1 IW, her best throw this year. Christi Petersen placed fifth in the 100 meter dash in 13.8 at Lake View. Huss competed for the fourth straight year at state, placing second at state in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200. Norway foreign exchange student john Hatling won the 1600 meter run at district in a time of 4:49.42. Hatling, who had a lot of l0k run experience before coming to BC, did well in distance running all season. In the open class 3,200 meter run at Sioux City, Hatling's first place finish of 959.4 broke both the BC school record and the Sioux City record. Hatling also broke a school record in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:40.5. Hatling helped the medley fof Fritz, Huss, Winterrowdh to third place at state. Daeon Fritz also broke schools record this year. Fritz smoked the 100 meter high hurdles with a time of 16.37, then broke his own record and qualified for state with a time of 16.07. Five Bomber thinclads qualified in six events for the State meet. Eaming the right to compete were: Kerby Huss in the 100 and 200 meter dash, Daeon Fritz in the high hurdles, john Hatling in the 1600 meter run, Rod Hedberg in the long jump, and the medley relay of Huss, Hatling, Winterrowd, and Fritz. Qualifying six events for state was the most of all the teams at district and the most events for any BC Bomber team. The state competitors ended in sixth place with 16 points, only one point away from fifth and four points away from fourth. Besides the record-breakers Huss 1Pictured at Leftl, and Fritz, the Bombers had many impressive efforts throughout the season. The 4x1O0 relay team, for example, fFritz, Winterrowd, Hedberg, Huss! ran the event in 46.94 to place 77th out of 151 teams at the Drake Relays.
