The girl's softball team had a very good summer season with 21 wins. and only eight losses. Six of these losses were to non-high school teams. During their summer season they brought home trophies from the A.S.A. Tournament fAmateur Softball Associationj, the Rembrandt Tournament, and from the sectional and district tournaments. Their fall season consisted of eleven wins and four losses. During the fall season they won the Battle Creek Invitational Tournament, and the sectional tournament. Team leaders for the season were as follows: Diane Strackbein with 26 stolen bases Glenda Vermeys with 36 base on balls Anita Petersen with 5 home runs Marylin Witt and Glenda Vermeys with 6 third base hits a piece Anita Petersen with 11 second base hits New school records set were: Anita Petersen with 55 hits in one season Anita Petersen with 150 at bats in one season Diane Strackbein with 140 hits in a career Diane Strackbein with 148 runs in a career Diane Strackbein with 86 runs batted in, in a career. UTSTANDI G ATHLETES .mm Tim Hupke--First Team All Conference Tim was an All Conference player for two years. He made the Fourth Team in North-Western Iowa. Tim set records in games played--72. The number of free-throws he made were 231--88 in one season. H scored 925 points, second in all time scoring. I-Ie was an All Conference Football player, both in offensive and defensive playing. In Golf, he was a conference and sectional medalist. Marilyn Witt- -All Conference Marilyn was All Conference forward. She and Karen Gailey were top two scorers of the School's History. She was our second baseman in softball and has played in the State Tournaments. Marilyn has also qualified for the State Track Meet in the long jump.
