THE NEW WORLD You, the class of I947, will face a very different world from that of your former school mates of the past three years. ln' this atomic age you will be confronted with problems of great magnitude and intensity requiring keen thinking and scientific analysis. The solution of these problems will spell success or failure for democracy. Never in our country's history has there been a greater need to train youth to fulfill their responsibilities as intelligent thinking citi- zens. We need a citizenry that can reflect and act in terms of world problems, relationships, and peace for all peoples. Through curricular and extracurricular programs, Battin has pro- vided the background necessary for understanding world issues, has furnished opportunities for developing the art of intelligent leader- ship, and has developed appreciation of the spiritual and cultural values of our heritage. lf you are to have a new and better world for yourself and your posterity, it rests with you to take a part in its making. Apply, with judgment, the basic principles you have learned to the vital questions of the day, be tolerant, respectful, courteous. Have a high regard for integrity, justice, and honor and practice the Colden Rule in all things, Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Principal.
