Before I left the school grounds, I stopped to rest for a minute in the shade of an old oak. Perhaps it was just a dream, but as I sat there, I thought I heard a voice, almost a whisper, but very distinct, which seemed to come from the depths of the great building behind me. r7 AM BATON ROUGE HIGH. . .” Through many years I have lain here. Key Club Hosted District Convention The Key Club of Baton Rouge High School, under the adept leadership of Randy Rebowe, showed what true service was by working with various non-profit organizations — United Givers Agency, Muscular Dystrophy, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Arthritis Foundation. For outstanding service the club was awarded the host spot at the 1975 District Convention, held in our city in the latter part of April. The club was almost assured a place in the sun at the convention's awards ceremony, as it had shattered the 1974 Key Club records in October. Bu lldog Band Moving in new directions with a new tide of music was the Bulldog Band's objective in 1975. On clear autumn mornings, while others slept, B.R.H.S. was rocked alive to a new beat by a new band preparing for a long football season. Young men packing tubas and young ladies agilely handling their woodwinds, our Musicians aroused the fans at Memorial, Olympia and out-of-town stadiums. Making the transition from boisterous football season to the quieter concert season was an adjustment for the members of the band — an adjustment for the members of the band never easily accomplished. However, with tenacity and sheer drive our band excelled in Festival in Hammond. As a reward for the year's efforts the band went to the Astrodomain , Houston, on tour. The 1975 B.R.H.S. They played well against Redemp-tionist the next week, but could come up with only a 14-14 tie. With a limited number of players, the Bulldogs continually found themselves outmanned by the opposing teams. As the year wore on, the Dogs found the decisive plays coming in the 4th quarters; unfortunately, the Dogs always came up short. The season progressed, and the Dogs opened their Homecoming game against Istrouma with a drive down to the one foot line. Then luck went against the Dogs, and they were penalized five yards. The Bulldogs could not push the ball across the line. Istrouma came back and won the contest, but the spirited Dogs walked off the field, their heads held high. 152 (fop) Here we go ogam! (bottom) The offense looked shcrp. But the Size of the Figh t in the Dog Despite all the defeats, the Dogs continued the season with a fighting spirit, and the opposing teams always knew the Bulldogs had been there. The final game was against Lee High. Each team had had a hard season, and the teams’ feelings were running high. The spirited Bulldogs were backed by the band, boosters, cheerleaders, and student body. The Dogs exploded and scored first, leaving Lee High bewildered. The stage was set for the battle. Lee High, although victorious, left the field limping. With this game, the 1 974-75 football season ground to a halt. 153 (lop) Hold it! I don't hove the boll, (bottom) Th-Th-Th-There you ore!
