Each homeroom was asked to nominate the fellow students whom they liked best. A ballot was then composed, and the entire student body voted. Twelve students represented the Senior class. From these twelve Mr. and Miss BRHS were chosen. The underclassmen were represented by three couples from each grade. Who's Who were elected in late January, but the students were not told until the middle of February. They were nominated by their teachers, and from the list of nominees, the teachers chose twenty seniors who most nearly exemplified the qualities of LEADERSHIP, LOYALTY, SERVICE, COURTESY, INTEGRITY, and SCHOLARSHIP. BIF FALL FEATURES DONNA PULLIAM The Queen and her Court were elected before our Homecoming Game with our Bulldogs going against the Istrouma Indians. Two girls from each grade (eleven through ninth) proudly represented their class. Four were chosen from the Senior Class, and from these one was elected Homecoming Queen. The Queen and her Court reigned over the dance that night. Beaux and Belles in a Winter Wonderland were proudly presented by the Fricassee Staff of 73-74: on the 15th day of December. One hundred girls were entered from the homerooms, clubs, and by individuals. They had a grand time back-stage. Our MC's were Jay Dardennc and Harry Barton. The girls were judged on youthful beauty, poise, and personality. Seven girls were chosen from the senior class, four from the juniors, and three from the sophomore and freshman classes. 6 7 68 69 We Faced the Hardest Times You Can Ima Presenting the Seniors of'74 Dara Lynn Abbott Warren Abbott Venesia Y. A wide variety of service projects made '74 a great year for Key Club. From selling pep items to helping the elderly and sick the Key Club meant service. But service was not all there was to it. Key Club regularly attended luncheons sponsored by Kiwanis International and also placed highly at the annual La.-Miss.-Tenn. district convention in Memphis. Key Club at BRHS led its district division in a great many awards and was one of the best in the country, receiving national recognition in October. During the cool, crisp autumn nights the Boosters turned out and showed what true school spirit was. The Bulldog loyals enjoyed the weekly skits at the pep rallies. The Boosters rocked the auditorium when they and the student body sang 'Ole Bulldog Spirit,’ the Fight Song, and 'Go, Go, Go, Ye Mighty Bulldogs! As roundball season rolled around, winter nipped at the Boosters while they were in the gym backing some new players who became heroes. These heroes were the BRHS Basketball team - one of the top in District 6-AAA A competition. The 1974 Boosters truly proved 'Ye Oldc Dogs Have Risen Again! ! !' 134 of Bulldog Spirit!!! Bergeron (right) showed the band what real dedication was. True Bulldogs followed his example, and the drums beat a new beat; the horns blared a new tune, and the 'Dog Beat' began. In the fall the band gave the football team new pep. The spectators knew something new and exciting was happening when the old marches were nowhere to be found. New replaced old. Soul, jazz, soft rock, and more exciting and contemporary music were heard at the pep rallies and football games. About the heart of football season Mr. Bergeron revived the stage band. One tradition that was not broken was that of a fine concert band. Bulldogs' arch rival, Tara, was their next opponent, and the combination of McFadden to Brister gave the Dogs a 6-0 lead. But the Trojans fought back and won 21-6. In their final match, the team shell-shocked Episcopal High by opening a large lead that ended in a resounding 80-30 victory for BRHS. Next in line was Lee High. Employing their blitzing tactics, BRHS roared to a 125-80 win and eame’d the right to face the favored Glen Oaks team. Glen Oaks showed how well they had been drilled by staying calm after BRHS opened up an early lead. The score ended 140-95. Catholic High School had a bye and played the winner of the BRHS-Glen Oaks match, so BRHS ended 3rd. It was generally agreed that BRHS was the 2nd place team in skill. Indeed, we were nearC at 0f you who sharing a common goal and working together until wc attained it. 1 hope t purchased a copy of the 1974 FRICASSEE have been satisfied by our work. I would like to acknowledge the assistance and help given the FRICASSE a dents and teachers of BRHS, as well as many in our community. It was greatly appreciate an without it we would never have attained our goal. But most of all I would like to man my sta for their patience and diligence which was needed to complete the book. These people should be admired for giving so much to this book and gaining little in return except for an inner knowledge of accomplishment. This year's FRICASSEE was in doubt financially until the last payment was made. It seems that many students and teachers have lost the tradition of buying a copy of their school's annual. One of the goal for next year will be to re-establish this tradition at BRHS. The students of BRHS are the backbone of the FRICASSEE and without their support, the FRICASSEE, one of the state's oldest yearbooks, will die. I close this letter with the hope that the student body and faculty of BRHS will rally behind the FRICASSEE in the future to make it the best in the country. 9 rv Many Thanks, OXjUU L ™ Wff al j?914 Editor of the FRICASSEE -KajiL -l7 .
