Long, long ago when our town was young, a teacher to our school came, She was little and cute and mighty sweet, Kate Bacot was her name. And as 35 years went rolling by, she always did her part Working and starting the Fricassee and Buzzer, so dear to her heart. She never grew in stature much as one can plainly see But her growth in love and kindness stretches infinitely. There are certain things about her that one will not forget For all the little things she stood for we surely are in debt. Her car always parked in the same place, her white hair in the sun Her little steps as she walked the halls, her weariness when her work was done. Her American History outlines, her Buzzer Staff at work Many things she must do which she did never shirk. So to this one that we all love our book we dedicate To let her know that she’ll always be “just our Kate.”
