HS BR CL A SS H 1ST ORY FOUR YEARS and several (lays ago destiny brought forth to Baton Rouge High School a new freshman class, conceived in genius and dedicated to the proposition that all adolescents must get an education. With this in mind, we stepped through the sacred |x rtals of out-new Alma Mater into its hallowed halls anti straightway began to prepare ourselves for the day when we would he the first class to graduate from the twelfth grade, newly instituted in our honor we were sure. The first thing we were told was that our class was the best to have grated Baton Rouge High School in many a year. However, we were somewhat eclipsed by the Seniors of 1947 who seemed to think that they were rather outstanding. (And, being of a charitable nature, we let them have their moment, and kept our genius to ourselves.) Of course there were a few affairs to enrich our freshman year (Ah. Sweet Misery of Life!), and the uncovering of a few potential athletes front our ranks. On the whole we considered it a successful and predicative year. We returned from our summer sports with our heads bloody, but unbowed and ready for the strain of our Sophomore year. Being very conscious of our growing reputation, welch that this was the time for all gtxxl Sophomores to come to the aid of their class. That year the Honor Roll was swelled with the names of Sophomores, and the varsity teams were enlarged by our members. At this time we succeeded in making even the Seniors climb down from their lofty pedestals to examine more closely these intruders upon their glory. Lite following September wc New Juniors, venitnus, vidimus, vicimus!” (For the benefit of those who have never had the privilege of studying Caesar, we came, we saw, we conquered!”) Although there were a few Seniors to disturb our reign, we kept on in out path of fame. Soon the sch x l and surrounding territory realized what a great dass was the future class of 1950. This was the year that our basketball team captured the city crown (with the aid of several from our class, of course!) Many other outstanding achievements were gained by the Joining Juniors” (so called because we were magnetically attracted to any and all clubs in school). Yes, that year proved our mettle. In fact, the PYVK’s (People Who Know) had thought we were so g xxl that we should be held over for another year in order to enrich the community. Realizing we were needed, we consented to remain for a fourth year. At last we were Seniors! The (dass of 1950 was a reality instead of a futurity. We began this, our last year, with high hopes and great gladness. Now we could blossom forth in all our true genius! And we did. No previous record shows such accomplishments as ours. We felt that we must: Do or die For Baton Rouge High. I hus we have come to the end of our four-year reign. Like all g xxl Seniors we must pass into the unknown. Our names will not be remembered jK-rhaps, but our deeds will ne'er be forgotten. When we walk down the auditorium aisle on our graduation night, we shall remember the fun we've had, the work we’ve done, the things we've learned. We re leaving the school forever, but we are leaving a piece of us with it, our Alina Mater. We ll never forget you. Baton Rouge High!
