DEDICATION TO DR. WILLIAM B . HATCHER ★ YVhai greater happiness ran a man ask of life than rhe honor of having written indelibly in deeds, on the hearts of his fellow men. ihe record of his achievements? Such was the happy lot of our dear friend. Dr. William If. Hatcher, to whom we. the class of 1947. dedicate the first post-war edition of the “Fricassee.” In his profession Dr. Hatcher reached the heights of accomplishment attained by the very few. Having begun his career as a classroom teacher, he went through the whole field of educational supervision and administration and finally received the splendid reward of his notably successful work, the presidency of the great Louisiana State University. Those of us who knew Dr. Hatcher personally remember him lovingly as an understanding friend: those of us who knew him only professionally remember him as an efficient, inspired leader, all of us remember him as a man of fine principle—one who fought unfalteringly for the things in which he believed. In dedicating this “Fricassee” to l)r. Hatcher, we firmly resolve that we will keep green his memory by making every effort to live according to the principles for which he stood. His fine integrity will serve as our beacon in life. His splendid courage will be our inspiration. When the going” seems hard, we shall think of our friend and his way of life. Then we will fight all the harder for the right because we shall remember that he lived and passed our way.
