n 1 j D n n o Well nigh three long years ago, when as adolescent freshmen, first setting foot upon the grounds of 11. R. H. S., we gazed in awe at the bigness of our new sanctuary, feeling the insignificance of our being, and lacking quite in audacity. By the end of our freshmanship, we had made some headway in overcoming such obstacles as timidity, awkwardness, and inferiority complexes. When we ascended to our Junior year, feeling nearer the level of seniors, we found great pleasure in “gabbing” in the corridors and being attracted to things that took our minds from our studies. In summarizing the Junior year, the greater part of our time was spent bustling around trying to make impressions upon the opposite sex. Now that the height of seniority lias at last been reached, and we bask in the light of distinction with the proper dig- nity and rank, our desires make us more resolved and intent. Of the 350 seniors who expect to receive degrees, numerous ones shone with high ratings for athletics, music, dramatics. and scholarship. As seniors become capable of withstanding difficulties patterned on a minor scale, we disperse, more prepared to meet the turmoil of the outer world. rims ends the history of the graduating class of June, 1940. May it benefit future seniors, that they may realize that only in the diligent pursuit of the principles of scholarship and sportsmanship can the preparation for the broader things still ahead be made. Dedicated this thirty-first day of May, nineteen hundred and forty. Louise Brown THE FRICASSEE PACE TWENTY-NINE
