ASS HISTORY of the Class of 1950 l938' A momentous year' September' A fate ful month' Johnny and SUSIE clung to Mothers skrrts but the tlme had come They bevan thelr long twelye year yoyage on the shlp of educatlon Today the class of 50 looks back on those first days of school and more than one may be heard saymg Gee lt seems such a short tlme ago Indeed rt does but so many many thmgs haye happened m those years ln 1936 when we first ventured 1nto the field of the three R s the lmted States was just gettlng on its feet after a bad depression and many of our parents were be lnnmg to breathe a llttle easler At the same tune condltlons ln Europe pomted to ward another war But completely obllvlous to any of these thrngs we busted ourselves with nor'rnal chlldhood actlvltles Who w1ll forget the games of marbles and jumpmv rope or Hlde and Go Seek and Crack the Whrp? that had seemed far away came very close to home 194-1 IS a year that we all remember well After thls many thmgs changed for us Our brg brothers uncles couslns and even fathers went to war We were begmmng to understand the serrousness of this mternatlonal problem Durmv the war years Bath Exempted Village School grew by leaps and bounds When we en tered the slxth grade those who were here wlll remember moymg to the hlgh school bulldmg be cause of the oyercrowded grade school Then when we finally reached the seventh grade and were about to become a defimte part of the hrgh school we recelyed a great blow to our ego We were moyed back to the grade school blllldlllgl Slnce that tlme we have had a five grade high school Wlth 194-5 came vrctory for the Allles oyer the Axls forces How can we forget the day that the teacher told us the wonderful news' The Germans had surrendered Now we had to worry about the japanese That summer the atomlc bomb ended our worrles But lt seemed to bring some new ones with lt too The elghth Grade meant that hlgh school days were here Now lt became necessary for us to begin preparations for our llfes work But we always had tlme for lots of fun Partles and dances became yery popular and some of the gang began to have dates The grrls llked to look their prettlest and the fellows yearned to be muscle bound athletes Whlle we were strugglmg with Latln and Algebra some great men were busy trylng to patch the bat tered old World up by means of the United Nations Assembly Our hearts went out to the people of many war torn nations and we sent them food and clothlng When at last we reached our Junror year we felt that we were drawmg pretty close to the end of our school days By thls tlme a lot of the fellows had developed mto muscle bound athletes and be there was the unforgettable ,Iun1orSen1or prom that took so much hard work and when we made out our schedules for our last year of hrgh school we began to reallze that rt wouldnt be long And now that last year IS gone and perhaps many SCDIOTS are dom a good blt of I'CITllIllSClI1g Some WylSl'l they had taken better ady antage of their tlme and others recelye thelr dlplomas wlth a gen ulne satlsfactlon that they gamed by dolng thelr est From now on most of us are on our own W haye no teacher except experience to find our mls takes War whlch has played such an mtegral part of our lrfe heretofore contlnues to face us Com mumsm threatens our democratlc ldeals A dreadful weapon the Hydrogen Bomb flyrng saucers and rumors of Men from Mars are creatlng an ever growlng atmosphere of drspalr and dlstrust Yet we look forward to the future confident that we can meet these trrals Today we follow Tomorrow we lead Page Tu enty . 1 - - . -4, I .
