BATH SCHOOL The Bath School was first established as a public school of Dakota 'Territory March, l88L, and was approved by Super- intendent of Public Instruction, W. H. H. Beadle. Keeping pace with changing conceptions and reorganizations of education, it is now classified as a four year accredited South Dakota High School. The curriculum of the high school as now organized includes: Majors: English, commerce, and social science, ' Minors: mathematics, science, home ec- onomics, and industrial arts. The extracurricular program includes music Cvocal and instrumentall, Dramatics Cplaysl, Physical education Kdimnondball, basketball, baseballl, Hobby club, Pep club, publications Cpaper and yearbookl, and an organized student body Qclasses, organizations, student councill . The social program includes banquets, picnics, and parties. Much time and effort has been devoted to an honor point system, which is still in its infancy, but shows signs of en- couraging students to participate in more activities. With this Bath School will better fulfill the modern philosophy of education, and its results will be much better educated students.

Harold Graves Elmer Locken George Little The members of the Board of Education of the Bath Public School are especially interested in the school and community. They are all engaging in farming and each one has children in school. George Little attended Bath School and later attended South Dakota University. He has served six years on the Board, and is its oldest member. Elmer Locken was educated in the rural schools and later attended St. Olaf College. He has served four years on the Board. Harold Graves received his education in Minneapolis. He took over August Ehrke's vacancy and later waszre- elected for another temn. Although these should be regulated by the student's abili- ties, they should also include facts in fields of geography, history, literature, health, science and industry. Every child should have usable skills in arithmetic, reading, writinj, and English. We may add the following skills when time permits: musiq typewriting, arts and crsfts. Some need direct teaching of at- titudes concerning citizenship, sanitation and sufety. We should try to develop all of the child und not just part of him. 9
