A Perfect Day for a Harvest Homecoming It was Friday, October 7, 1983. The beginning of a big weekend in Batesville. The 7th was the final day for preparation of floats, costumes, and strategies for the Powder Puff Game. The Homecoming activities began around 7:00 with the start of the Powder Puff Game. If was a soc cer game between the Junior and Senior girls, with halftime entertain- ment by the Junior and Senior boys as Drill team and Majorette Corps, and the crowning of the Powder Puff King, Dan Nobbe. The game resum- ed and the Juniors won with a score FAR RIGHT Queen candidate, Ann Amberger and her escort Larry Gutzwiller RIGHT Queen candidate, Jenny Kinker and her escort Mike Galle BELOW RIGHT and the escorts Senior queen candidates BELOW Queen candidate, Shannon Keith and her escort Jim Pictor of 3-2. Activities for Friday were over and everyone went home in excite- ment for the day to come The day was here it was Harvest Homecoming Day. It was a beautiful day, the weather was sunny and warm, and there was excifement throughout the whole town. The parade began af 11:30, marched through town and led many fans to the field for the beginning of the game. North Decatur had nor scored after the 3rd quarter and Batesville had ail of their reserve players in the game. Well, North Decatur failed to score throughout the entire game giving Batesville the victory with a score of 415-0, a new Indiana High School State record!! Homecoming festivities were not over for those who went our that night. The evening events consisted of a dance sponsored by the mer- chants with music by Endurance, many parties, and everyone had a good time. It rurned out to be an en- joyable weekend for everyone.
